          SHOPIAN, OCTOBER 28: Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mohammad Ajaz Assad today convened a meeting to review the preparedness and measures to curb Dengue and HINI (Swine Flu) influenza virus in the district.
           Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, Child Development Project Officer, Executive Officer Municipal Committee, all Block Medical Officers, Zonal Education Officers and other concerned were present in the meeting.

          During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held to find ways to combat dengue and Swine flu diseases. The meeting was informed that the district administration has constituted Special Task Force (STF) headed by Deputy Commissioner Shopian to combat the diseases.
           On the occasion, the DC directed Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Shopian to Constitute district and Tehsil Level teams to provide awareness among the general people on ways to control spread of these diseases.  
          The DC directed the Municipal authorities to form special squads for
carrying out cleanness drives in the areas from where dengue, swine flu cases are being reported. Fumigation and clearing of drains should be done regularly to prevent and control spread of vector borne virus.

          Deputy Commissioner directed the health authorities to provide free medicines to these patients and other essential help to such patients for their proper treatment. He asked all concerned Departments to work in close coordination so that dengue and H1N1 influenza virus is controlled in the district before the onset of winters.


          The Deputy Commissioner appealed general public to not panic and follow already issued Government health advisory in this regard.

          RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 18: Keeping in view reports of Swine Flu cases in Jammu, Dr. Mahmood Hussain Bajjar Medical Superintendent District Hospital Rajouri reviewed the preparedness to deal with any such case in Rajouri and established a separate isolated indoor ward and O.P.D. to screen and manage swine flu cases.
Medical Superintendent sensitized health care workers and general public about the disease and took stock of H1N1 drugs and other personal protective equipments available in the District Hospital.
Dr. Mahmood informed that Swine flu, also known as the H1N1 virus, is a relatively new strain of an influenza virus that causes symptoms similar to the regular flu. Like other strains of the flu, H1N1 is highly contagious and spreads quickly through saliva and mucus particles. People may spread it by: sneezing, coughing, touching a germ-covered surface and then touching their eyes or nose. A simple sneeze can cause thousands of germs to spread through the air. The virus can linger on tables and surface areas like door knobs, waiting to be picked up.
He advised that best means of dealing with swine flu is to prevent it. Hand sanitization is important to stop the spread of the virus. Staying away from infected people will also help stopping person-to-person transmission.
“Some people are at higher risk for becoming seriously ill if they’re infected with swine flu. These groups include; adults over age 65, children under 5 years old, adults and children under 19 years of age who are receiving long-term aspirin (Bufferin) therapy, people with compromised immune systems (due to a disease such as AIDS), pregnant women, people with chronic illnesses such as asthma, heart disease, diabetes mellitus, or neuromuscular disease,” he said while informing about the susceptible group to the disease.
He added that symptoms of Swine Flu include chill, fever, coughing, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, fatigue, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.
It is pertinent to mention here that no case has been reported with sign and symptoms of the disease so far in the district.

Nashik, Aug 18 :  With the death of one more patient, the toll due to swine flu has shot up to 38 in the last eight months. According to sources, the victim, Sushila Vitthal Ghayal (57) resident of Naitale village in Niphad taluka of the district was being treated in the District Civil Hospital as he was detected with swine flu symptoms yesterday. A total of 38 people have died of swine flu in the district and city between since January 2017. Currently, six patients, including five women are being treated in the civil hospital for the same disease. Their nose or throat swab samples have been sent to Pune laboratory for analysis, sources added. UNI

Lucknow, Aug 4:  The virus of H1N1 (swine flu) is fast spreading in Lucknow and other parts of Uttar Pradesh with 20 new cases being detected yesterday and the state capital reporting 81 cases of swine flu this season so far.
The state capital also topped the list of swine flu affected districts in the state.
According to data from state vector-borne diseases control cell, over 46 per cent of total 175 swine flu cases reported in UP are from Lucknow followed by Ghaziabad which has just 21 cases.
Though reports said that more than ten people have lost their lives but government has only confirmed three deaths so far, including two in Lucknow.
Meerut and Noida bagged the third place with nine cases each.
With five cases, Kanpur is the fifth most affected district in state.
Varanasi was the latest additions with one case.
Officials claimed that they had enough stock of Tamiflu required for patients.
"We were able to verify several cases and gave them Tamiflu," said Dr G S Bajpai, CMO Lucknow district.
In Lucknow, the hospital areas near SGPGI and KGMU are the worst affected along with Gomti Nagar, Ashiyana, Triveninagar, Rajajipuram, Niralanagar, Jankipuram and Vikas Nagar.
Most of the patients are admitted to the SGPGI and KGMU but still there are some patients at other government hospitals, where they are attended by doctors.
However, doctors says that the spread of virus could be prevented if the patients are detected earlier and put in isolation till he is treated.
Experts feel that all though all fevers are not swine flu, but if the temperature do not come down in a week then people should go for the H1N1 test in consultation with the doctors.UNI
