Mumbai, Aug 1: Breaking all previous records, the BSE Sensex advanced by over 80 points to hit a new peak of 37,690.23, while the Nifty scaled a fresh high of 11,378.95 in opening trade ahead of the Reserve Bank's bi-monthly policy meet outcome due later in the day.

The 30-share index surged 83.65 points, or 0.22 per cent, to an all-time high of 37,690.23.

The gauge had gained 1,110.21 points in the previous seven record-setting sessions and closed at an all-time high of 37,606.58 points in the previous session.

The broader NSE Nifty too hit a new high by rising 22.45 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 11,378.95.

All sectoral indices led by oil & gas, FMCG, PSU, metal and banking stocks rose up to 0.95 per cent.

Brokers said investors were seen raising bets ahead of the monetary policy announcement, and foreign institutional investors too showed buying interest.

Shares of Bajaj auto, Vedanta, TCS, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Bank, IndusInd Bank, M&M, ITC, SBI, Maruti Suzuki, Asian Paints, RIL, Coal India, Axis Bank and Yes Bank, rose up to 1.64 per cent.

Among the top losers were Tata Motors, Axis Bank, NTPC, Infosys and HDFC, falling up to 3 per cent.

Meanwhile, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net of Rs 572.21 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold shares worth a net of Rs 290.87 crore yesterday, provisional data showed.

Asian stocks edged higher, following overnight gains in Wall Street, as a report of attempts to renew talks between the US and China eased trade war fears, but investors will be keeping a close eye on US Fed policy outcome due today.

Japan's Nikkei rose 0.54 per cent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng edged up 0.35 per cent and Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.21 per cent in early trade.

The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.43 per cent higher yesterday.

Mumbai, Jul 25: The benchmark Sensex turned volatile after hitting a new high of 36,928.06 in early session as investors turned cautious ahead of July futures and options (F&O) expiry amid mixed quarterly earnings.

The 30-share index rose by 102.97 (rpt) 102.97 points, or 0.27 per cent, to hit a new high of 36,928.06, bettering its previous intra-day record of 36,902.06 hit yesterday.

However, the index soon turned choppy and was trading 16.05 points, or 0.04 per cent, higher at 36,841.15 at 0940 hrs.

The gauge had rallied 473.87 points in the previous three sessions.

The 50-share NSE Nifty too turned cautious and was trading 4.40 points, or 0.04 per cent, lower at 11,129.90.

Sentiment remained cautious ahead of July series F&O expiry scheduled tomorrow amid mixed quarterly earnings, brokers said.

Prominent gainers were Vedanta, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Steel, Adani Ports, ONGC, Sn Pharma, SBI, Bajaj Auto, Tata Motors, HDFC, Wipro, L&T and PowerGrid, rising up to 1.92 per cent.

Top losers include Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints, NTPC, Coal India, Maruti and TCS falling up to 2 per cent.

Meanwhile, on a net basis, foreign funds bought shares worth Rs 104.34 crore, while domestic institutional investors made purchases worth Rs 513.78 crore yesterday, provisional data showed.

Elsewhere in Asia, Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.09 per cent, Hong Kong's Hang Seng was up 0.85 per cent, while Japan's Nikkei gained 0.54 per cent in early deals.

The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.79 per cent yesterday.

Mumbai, Jul 18: Extending yesterday's rally, the benchmark BSE Sensex jumped over 200 points to record a new high of 36,747.87 in early trade today amid buying by domestic institutional investors and easing global crude oil prices.

The market rally was driven by strong buying on the oil & gas, banking, PSU and realty counters and strength in the rupee.

The 30-share BSE index spurted by 227.91 points, or 0.62 per cent, to hit new high of 36,747.87, surpassing its previous record of 36,740.07 recorded on July 13.

However, at 0950hrs, the index pared some gains and was trading 108.72 points, or 0.30 per cent, higher at 36,628.68.

The gauge had gained 196.19 points in the previous session.

The 50-share NSE Nifty also rose by 62.05 points, or 0.56 per cent, to 11,070.10.

Traders said positive cues from other Asian markets, tracking overnight gains in the US market following upbeat remarks from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell during his congressional testimony boosted investor sentiment.

Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth a net pf Rs 840.06 crore, while foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net of Rs 673.99 crore yesterday, provisional data released by stock exchanges showed.

Major gainers include Adani Ports, HDFC Bank, Sun Pharma, ONGC, Coal India, HDFC Ltd, Asian Paint, Wipro, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti Suzuki, Infosys, PowerGrid, L&T, RIL and TCS, rising up to 1.65 per cent.

Sectoral indices led by oil & gas, PSU, realty and banking stocks gained up to 1.12 per cent.

Other Asian markets were trading higher too. Key indices such Japan's Nikkei rose 0.90 per cent, Shanghai Composite Index 0.43 per cent and Hong Kong's Hang Seng 0.29 per cent in early trade.

The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.22 per cent higher yesterday.

Mumbai, Jul 13: The BSE Sensex hit a fresh record high of 36,740.07 points in opening session today driven by smart gains in Infosys, Coal India and Wipro, despite weak macroeconomic data released yesterday.

In addition, firm Asian cues and a strengthening rupee against the dollar supported the rally.

Rising for the sixth day, the 30-share index spurted 191.66 points, or 0.52 per cent, to hit a new peak of 36,740.07.

The gauge gained 973.86 points in previous five sessions to close at a record high at 36,548.41 in yesterday.

Sectoral indices, led by IT, metal, teck, oil & gas and consumer durables were trading in the positive zone with up to one per cent gains.

The 50-share NSE Nifty rose 48.15 points, or 0.43 per cent, to 11,071.35.

Shares of Infosys gained over 1.42 per cent ahead of first quarter results, scheduled to be released later in the day.

Among other gainers, Wipro, Coal India, L&T, RIL, Maruti Suzuki, Kotak Bank, TCS, Adani Ports, HDFC Bank, M&M, Tata Motors, IndusInd Bank, Tata Steel and Asian Paints rose up to 3.20 per cent.

Public sector bank stocks, however, took a beating after weak Index of Industrial Production (IIP) and inflation data.

Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, Federal Bank were to top losers in the BSE Bankex, falling up to 4 per cent.

According to two sets of official data released yesterday, retail inflation spiked to a five-month high of 5 per cent in June on costlier fuel, despite easing food prices, reducing the possibility of an interest rate cut by the Reserve Bank in its upcoming monetary policy review.

Industrial production slipped to a seven-month low of 3.2 per cent in May due to sluggish performance of manufacturing and power sectors, while retail inflation continued to remain firm in June on costlier fuel.

Continuous buying by domestic institutional investors (DIIs), amid optimism over Q1 earnings and firming trend in other Asian markets following positive leads from Wall Street, buoyed market sentiment here, traders said.

DIIs bought shares worth a net of Rs 366.40 crore, while foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net of Rs 742.63 crore yesterday, provisional exchange data showed.

Asian stocks rose as China refrained from detailing retaliation plans against threatened US tariff increases.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.58 per cent, Japan's Nikkei too edged higher 1.47 per cent, while Shanghai Composite Index shed 0.17 per cent in early deals.

The US Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 0.91 per cent higher yesterday.

Mumbai, Jul 9: The benchmark Sensex today rose over 200 points, while Nifty reclaimed the 10,800-mark on widespread buying in metals, auto, IT and banking counters, amid firm Asian cues and a strengthening rupee.

The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 244.84 points, or 0.69 per cent, to 35,902.70. The gauge had gained 83.31 points in the previous session on Friday.

All sectoral indices, led by metal, auto, infrastructure, power, capital goods, healthcare and bankex, were in the green, rising up to 1.61 per cent.

The NSE Nifty recaptured the key 10,800-level by rising 68.35 points, or 0.63 per cent, to 10,841.00.

Major gainers were Tata Steel, Vedanta, Yes Bank, Tata Motors, RIL, M&M , Asian Paints, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Bajaj Auto, Power Grid, Coal India, Maruti Suzuki, NTPC, L&T, SBI, IndusInd Bank, Bharti Airtel, and Infosys, gaining up to 1.85 per cent.

Investors are also looking forward to the quarterly results of IT majors TCS and Infosys that will kick-start the earnings season later this week.

TCS was trading lower by 1.28 per cent at Rs 1,888.80, while Infosys was up 0.62 per cent at Rs 1,292.40.

Asian shares rose tracking gains on Wall Street after the release of strong jobs data for June, which muffled the impact of an escalating US-China trade dispute.

Rupee rose by 30 paise to trade at 68.57 against the US dollar at the forex market, fuelling the uptrend in domestic equities.



Brokers said besides fresh buying by domestic institutional investors (DIIs), a firm trend at other Asian markets influenced sentiments.

DIIs bought shares worth a net of Rs 1,480.82 crore, while foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold equities to the tune of Rs 968.18 crore on Friday, provisional data showed.

Globally, Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 1.61 per cent, Japan's Nikkei gained 3.11 per cent, while China's Shanghai Composite Index advanced 1.65 per cent.

The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.41 per cent higher on Friday.

Mumbai, Jul 2: The BSE Sensex fell 159 points after opening 122 points higher today, following selling pressure on select counters amid sustained capital outflows by foreign funds.

However, auto and IT stocks, led by Bajaj Auto, Tata Motors, Infosys and TCS, were trading higher up to 0.96 per cent.

Asian stocks were trading lower, as trade tensions between the US and its trading partners still continues to be a key concern for investors.

The 30-share index dropped 158.93 points or 0.44 per cent to 35,264.55. The gauge had gained 385.84 points in the previous session.

Similarly, the NSE Nifty fell below 10,700-mark by slipping 51.75 points or 0.48 per cent to 10,662.55.

Sectoral indices led by power, FMCG, PSU, infrastructure, capital goods and banking stocks were trading in the negative zone, falling up to 1.07 per cent.

Major losers were NTPC, Vedanta, L&T, Coal India, ITC, ONGC, Axis Bank, RIL, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, HUL, Wipro, HDFC Bank and Power Grid, falling up to 3.29 per cent.

Brokers said sentiment remained weak in the absence of any positive trigger amid sustained capital outflows.

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth Rs 157.15 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 2,262.83 crore on Friday, as per provisional data.

In the Asian region, Japan's Nikkei fell 0.48 per cent and China's Shanghai Composite index was down 1.13 per cent, following data showing a drop in Chinese factory activity and the expected imposition of US tariffs later this week, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng markets are closed for a public holiday.

Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.23 per cent higher in Friday's trade.

Mumbai, Apr 11: TCS moved up on Wednesday by 2.85 pc to Rs 3015.50 to be the top gainers in the 30-share Sensex pack at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). 
Other gainers were Sun Pharma by 2.50 pc to Rs 520.70, Hind Unilver by 1.73 pc to Rs 1415, Reliance Industries by 1.37 pc to Rs 929.05 and M & M by 1.24 pc to Rs 789.
The losers were Adani Ports by 2.42 pc to Rs 377.10, SBIN by 2.26 pc to Rs 257.30, Yes Bank by 2.26 pc to Rs 312, ICICI Bank by 1.66 pc to Rs 284.10. UNI



Mumbai, Apr 11: The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) rose on Wednesday slipped by 38.05 points to 33,84.20 on profit booking by local operators at higher level.
The Nifty of National Stocks Exchange (NSE) too fell by 19.45 points to 10,382.80.
It was opened on a positive note at 33,970.35, up by 90 points.
It immediately went in red.
The sectoral indices like Power, Realty, Utilities and Health Care pushed the market down.
The sensex registered intra day high and low at 33,972.51 and 33,750.74 respectvely.
The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 10,428.15 and 10,355.60 respectively. 
The losers were Adani Ports by 2.20 pc to Rs 377.95, SBIN by 1.88 pc to Rs 258.30, ICICI Bank by 1.51 pc to Rs 284.55 and Yes Bank by 1.07 pc to Rs 315.80.
The gainers were ONGC by 1.42 pc to Rs 182.65, TCS by 1.34 pc to Rs 2971.25, Sun Pharma by 1.08 pc to Rs 513.50 Reliance Industries by 0.92 pc to Rs 924.90 and Wipro by 0.77 pc to Rs 287.80. UNI


Mumbai, Mar 19: The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Monday slipped by 78.84 points to 33,101.16 as selling was seen across the board.
Nifty of National Stocks Exchange (NSE) too eased by 31.75 points to 10,163.40. 
The sensex registered intra day high and low at 33,275.79 and 33,071.20 respectvely.
The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 10,224.55 and 10,153.95 respectively. 
The sectoral such as FMCG, Health Care, Auto, and Tecknology kept the sensex under pressure in early trade.
The losers were Coal India by 3.12 pc to Rs 270, Tata Steel by 2.58 pc to Rs 595, Asian Paints by 2.19 pc to Rs 1100.85, Adani Ports by 1.90 pc to Rs 364 and SBIN by 1.62 pc to Rs 248.50.

Mumbai, Jan 17: The bencmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) recovered by 133.62 points to 34,904.67 on fresh buying in IT, Finance, Bankex and Capital Goods stocks.
The Nifty of National Stocks Exchange (NSE) rose by 28.95 points to 10,729.40.
The sensex registered intra day high and low at 34,930.80 and 34,700.82 respectvely.
The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 10,741.40 and 10,666.75 respectively. 
Meanwhile, the sensex opened at 34,753.80 easing by 18 point.
The sectoral indices that pushed the equity market up were IT, Finance, Bankex and Capital Goods stocks.
The gainers were Infosys by 2.77 pc to Rs 1153.95, Axis Bank by 2.32 pc to Rs 571.70, TCS by 2.04 pc to Rs 2909 and Adani Ports by 1.83 pc to Rs 430.50.
The losers were Tata Motors by 1.78 pc to Rs 414.30, Wipro by 1.30 pc to Rs 327.60 and Hero MotoCorp by 1.22 pc to Rs 3551 and Tata Motors DVR by 1.01 pc to rs 241.10. UNI

The Nifty of National Stocks Exchange (NSE) declined by 12.10 points to 10,729.45.
The sensex registered intra day high and low at 34,936.03 and 34,759.88 respectvely.
The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 10,762.35 and 10,705.20 respectively. 
The sectoral indices that eased were Materials, Consumer Discretionary Goods and Servies, Power kept the market weak in early trade.
The losers were Coal India by 1.78 pc to Rs 300, Tata Motors by 1.56 pc to Rs 425, Tata Steel by 1.47 pc to rs 771.65 and Yes Bank by 1.40 pc to Rs 331.25.
