30: Commissioner Secretary Revenue
Department, Shahid today convened a meeting at Dak Bungalow,
Khannabal to review the progress of the special summary revision of electoral
rolls.
Inayatullah, who is also Electoral Roll
Observer for Anantnag was briefed by District Election Officer, Mohammad Younis
Malik in detail about account of the status of claims and objections, updation
of the database and the EPIC status, registration through ERONET and other
details.
It was given out that
6 EROs and 12 AEROs have been appointed for the special summary revision of
electoral rolls. Detailing further, the DEO said that 510282 electors have been
registered against the population of 1078692 of Census 2011.
As many as 10718 voters are falling in the age
bracket of 18-19 years, while as 8121 voters are above 80 years of AGE.
Besides, it was said that the draft electoral roll has the gender elector ratio
of 938 against 927 of 2011 Census.
So far, under Form-6,
an addition of 6444 has
been made while as under Form-7, 3668 are the deletions. 2849 corrections have been made under Form 8 while, a migration of 277 has been registered under Form-8A by 29th of November, 2017, the meeting
was told.
The DEO said
that 121 duplications were
detected by the software and 9 have been deleted following the field
verification."
He said that 13572 claims have been received
so far, out of which 8641 have been verified and accepted and 50 claims have
been rejected. Still, 2317 claims are under process for which 780 BLOs are on
the job to verify them.
Regarding EPIC
coverage, the meeting was informed that the district has registered 95.58%
electors under EPIC. The DEO said that thrust is being laid on coverage of nomadic
and migrant voters, which have been left out so far. The DEO said that 656 booth level officers were given
training regarding the use of Election Commission of India launched
ERONET application.
With respect to
registering the voters of 18-19 years of age, the Commissioner Secretary asked
the Chief Education Officer to ensure the 100% registration of the new voters
by involving the heads of the educational institutions in the SVEEP activity.
He also directed the AEROs to ensure the door-to-door survey besides, mass
awareness of the public about the significance of registration process.
The Roll Observer hailed the efforts put in by
the election machinery of the district in uploading the data on ERONET.
Besides, he expressed satisfaction over the establishment of call centre at the
district headquarter which can be contacted on toll-free No: 18001807054.
The meeting was attended
by Additional Deputy
Commissioner, ACR, SDMs of Pahalgam, Bijbehara, Kokernag and Dooru, Chief Education Officer, Deputy DEO, District
Informatics Officer and all Tehsildars of the district.
