Jammu, Jyly 11: JK Bank today announced that it will enter into an MOU with the Kashmir University to promote the Start Up Eco System in the Kashmir Valley by financing the incubated ideas of bright educated youth in the Kashmir University Incubation centre during their scaling up stage. The Chairman also announced contribution of Rs 1.00 Crore as part of its CSR initiative under the mutually agreed terms and conditions for facilitating the entrepreneurs with tools and equipments in the proposed Incubation centre. On the occasion Parvez Ahmed said, ”The Incubation centre being set up in the Kashmir university will encourage the local educated youth to take their first step in entrepreneurship with limited or zero risk and catalyze employment opportunities in future for the local population who otherwise have limited opportunities.”

New Delhi, June 20 : Two men were arrested for allegedly extorting money on the pretext of corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding, police said today.
The accused, identified as Susheel Tripathi (25) and Md Danish (32), used to act as middlemen between NGOs and corporate houses to facilitate money transfer of the CSR funds, the police said.
The accused had abducted two men -- Hari Om and Kuldeep --who were freelance agents of various companies and used to facilitate CSR funds.
Tripathi and Danish demanded Rs eight lakh for their release, the police said.
A friend of the victims filed a complaint with the police and both the accused were arrested.
A country made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from Danish, the officer said. 
During interrogation, the accused revealed that due to unemployment and in order to lead a luxury life, they committed the crime. PTI

New Delhi, May 29: The law under which companies are required to spend two per cent of their profit towards CSR activities provides an "excellent legal framework" to create a bridge between society and corporates, Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu today said.
Under the Companies Act, 2013, certain class of profitable entities are required to shell out at least two per cent of their three-year annual average net profit towards corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
He said that India is probably the only country in the world with such a framework.
Corporates that are spending two per cent in CSR activities win goodwill for the industry and "no corporate can ever do good business if it does not enjoy the goodwill of the society," he said here at a function on 'promoting scientific interventions for transforming India through CSR'. 
He, however, added that this a challenge for businesses to engage in social development activities.
In 2016-17, as many as 6,286 companies incurred CSR expenditure of Rs 4,719 crore, as per official data. (PTI)

ANANTNAG, NOVEMBER 30: Commissioner Secretary Revenue Department, Shahid today convened a meeting at Dak Bungalow, Khannabal to review the progress of the special summary revision of electoral rolls.
Inayatullah, who is also Electoral Roll Observer for Anantnag was briefed by District Election Officer, Mohammad Younis Malik in detail about account of the status of claims and objections, updation of the database and the EPIC status, registration through ERONET and other details.
It was given out that 6 EROs and 12 AEROs have been appointed for the special summary revision of electoral rolls. Detailing further, the DEO said that 510282 electors have been registered against the population of 1078692 of Census 2011.
As many as 10718 voters are falling in the age bracket of 18-19 years, while as 8121 voters are above 80 years of AGE. Besides, it was said that the draft electoral roll has the gender elector ratio of 938 against 927 of 2011 Census.
So far, under Form-6, an addition of 6444 has been made while as under Form-7, 3668 are the deletions. 2849 corrections have been made under Form 8 while, a migration of 277 has been registered under Form-8A by 29th of November, 2017, the meeting was told.
The DEO said that 121 duplications were detected by the software and 9 have been deleted following the field verification."
He said that 13572 claims have been received so far, out of which 8641 have been verified and accepted and 50 claims have been rejected. Still, 2317 claims are under process for which 780 BLOs are on the job to verify them.
Regarding EPIC coverage, the meeting was informed that the district has registered 95.58% electors under EPIC. The DEO said that thrust is being laid on coverage of nomadic and migrant voters, which have been left out so far. The DEO said that 656 booth level officers were given training regarding the use of Election Commission of India launched ERONET application.
With respect to registering the voters of 18-19 years of age, the Commissioner Secretary asked the Chief Education Officer to ensure the 100% registration of the new voters by involving the heads of the educational institutions in the SVEEP activity. He also directed the AEROs to ensure the door-to-door survey besides, mass awareness of the public about the significance of registration process.
The Roll Observer hailed the efforts put in by the election machinery of the district in uploading the data on ERONET. Besides, he expressed satisfaction over the establishment of call centre at the district headquarter which can be contacted on toll-free No: 18001807054.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, ACR, SDMs of Pahalgam, Bijbehara, Kokernag and Dooru, Chief Education Officer, Deputy DEO, District Informatics Officer and all Tehsildars of the district.

RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 21: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Tribal Affairs Department, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today stressed that change in mindset and perception of the society about the girl child is the key to reverse the declining Child Sex Ratio and women empowerment.
The Minister said this while speaking during a workshop organized under BetiBachaoBetiPadhao (BBBP) scheme of the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development.
The workshop was organised by District Social Welfare Officer in Baba Ghulam Shah University as a part of campaign initiated by district administration to address the issue of declining Child Sex Ratio in the district.
Addressing the participants, the Minister highlighted the need of gathering support of key stakeholders and involving local champions and prominent local personalities to ensure effective mindset change in the community.
He deliberated on issues related to community mobilization, effective implementation of PCPNDT Act, promoting girl child education and effective monitoring of BBBP.
 Zulfkar while appreciating the district administration for spearheading a mass awareness campaign under BBBP exhorted that there is further need to strengthen system for flow of information regarding girls being prevented from going to school, toilets for girls in schools, violence against women etc for visible results.
District Development Commissioner Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary while speaking on the occasion enumerated various innovative interventions the district administration has undertaken like celebration of the birth of girl child, display of birth statistics through GuddiGudda boards, holding inspection visits, sealing of unregistered ultrasonography machines, consultation of all stakeholders, oath taking ceremonies among others.
He called upon the girl students and scholars of BGBSU to join hands with district administration in carrying out a sustained campaign for protection and promotion of girl child.
Earlier, DSWO Dr. Abdul Khabir presented a detailed presentation reflecting the details of CSR in the district, major challenges and way ahead in the matter.
Many students and scholars of the university also spoke on the occasion and batted for adopting innovative approaches arrest the declining trend in CSR and to give it an upward swirl.
Commissioner Secretary FCS&CA, M D Khan, Controller Legal Metrology R K Katoch, Dean School of Languages and Humanity Prof. G M Malik, Dean Management Studies Prof. Naseem Ahmad, AD FCS & CA Javid Iqbal, faculty members and girls students of the university participated in the workshop.
Later the Minister along with DDC and other concerned officers visited Gujjar-Bakarwal Hostel and laid down the foundation stone of academic block of the hostel.

The building comprising of class rooms, computer lab, laboratory, staff rooms will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crores. It will be utilised for establishing residential school for students of the hostel.

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 17: Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga today convened a public grievances redress camp at Swankha in which the people hailing from various adjoining areas participated.

The villagers apprised the Minister of the problems being faced by them related to power supply, water supply, road connectivity, education, healthcare and sanitation. The Minister assured the people that their issues would be redressed in a time bound manner and reiterated the government is working with sole agenda of ‘good governance’ and urged the officers to work with commitment and dedication to sort out problems faced by the people on priority. The Minister also inspected the construction work of a Community Hall of Prajapati Biradari which would be completed under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme.

Zulfkar hails Petro Company; asks others to follow suit
Minister announces IPads for meritorious students


RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 08: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs & Tribal Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today gave away furniture, computers and other material worth Rs 35 lakh to 5 Government Schools of Darhal provided by Hindustan Petroleum Private Limited under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) .
          The Minister also conducted extensive tour of his home constituency to reach out to the people and listen to the people’s issues by holding   series of public grievances redress camps.
 The Minister was accompanied by a team of district and sectoral officers headed by deputy Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary. Several problems and demands raised by the people were resolved by the Minister on the spot.
  The material was provided to Government Higher Secondary School, Kandi, Government Higher Secondary School Kotranka, Government High School Mohra, Government Girls High School Budhal and Government Higher Secondary School Dhangri. The aid included 659 desks, 23 Computers, 23 Smart Boards, 6 Water Coolers, 1 Water Filter, 12 Filing cabinet, 45 chairs, 15 Library racks & Smart Podium.
                    Hailing the HPCL for aiding schools of the remote area, the Minister said that is for the first time that a petroleum company launched such a big programme in Darhal under CSR. 
  Zulfkar Ali informed that the aid for improving infrastructure in Government Schools of Darhal has been provided after he took up the matter with Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pardhan and the higher authorities of the petroleum company. He extended gratitude to Union Minister and HPCL for the generous support.
          The Minister called upon other corporate houses to follow the suit adding that it is the responsibility of all public and private corporate sector houses to come forward and supplement the efforts of the government in serving the society.
He said that the assistance in the form of computers and other material will help these schools to improve education standard and ensure   that the students do not suffer for the lack of modern teaching system. He added that more schools of the district would be provided assistance in the same manner in near future.
          On the occasion, the Minister also announced to provide IPads to   the students of of Darhal constituency out of his CDF who have secured    75% above marks in the Board exams.  
 Director FCS & CA Mohammad Azam Inqalabi, Senior Superintendent of Police Yougal Manhas, Secretary Gujjar & Bakerwal Advisory Board Mukhtar Ahmed, Deputy Director Tribal Affairs Suman Bala, Deputy General Manager Retail, HPCL Krishan Lal and district Officers of Rajouri   accompanied the Minister.
          Meanwhile, the Minister held series of public grievance redress camps in Rajouri and Kotranka areas and listened to the issues of people. 
The local people highlighted issues related to power sector, PHE, roads, health and education. The Minister issued strict instructions to concerned departments for redressing all their issues on priority.
          The locals also projected the problem of shortage of staff in Sub Centre Kandra, demanded power transformer for Dhandote, new Sub Centre at Khari Galli, water supply scheme for Gotu, upgrading of Schools in Larkoti, blacktopping of Larkoti road, construction of Draman Menthal bridge, installation of 2 transformers at Draman, posting of adequate staff in Larkuti schools, installation of transformer at Jori Kewal, provision of power supply to Khawas, Bainambal, Gadyog, Kanthol from PDD Feeder Khawas instead of   Kotranka Feeder.
          Responding to the demands, the Minister directed the concerned departments to meet their demands in shortest possible time.
          During the tour, the Minister also laid foundation stone of various developmental projects in Dharal constituency.

            Zulfkar Ali said that government is committed to develop rural belts and it has completed many projects and more are underway to   benefit the people. He said that it is for the first time that Darhal constituency has received more than Rs 850 crore funds in two years for various developmental projects. He added that more projects for the area are in pipeline.

Lucknow, Nov 7: Nearly 1,600 villages in Uttar Pradesh that have remained deprived of welfare schemes since Independence would be brought into the development mainstream, said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath here on Tuesday.
Addressing a public gathering after unveiling HCL’s CSR initiative Samuday, Mr Adityanath said investment by big companies like HCL would boost the state’s industrial sector and generate greater employment opportunities for youth. Hailing the efforts of companies like HCL, the Chief Minister said the company is working in the rural sector to help improve living standards of villagers and help the state government to facilitate their basic needs like health, education and shelter. Talking about ‘open defecation free’ (ODF) programme, he said that six districts have been declared ODF so far and the government was taking measures to make at least 30 more villages ODF till the end of the year.  “Educated and responsible persons of society should also spread awareness about development initiatives of state government,” he suggested.
Claiming that 45,000 villages had been electrified so far, Yogi said that with the help of solar energy the government was aiming at electrifying the entire state by the end of 2018. Addressing the gathering Roshni Nadar Malhotra, chief executive officer, HCL Corporation and chairperson of the CSR Committee, said, “HCL foundation believes that positive social change can be brought by innovative and creative models of development. We feel that through the Samuday model it will be possible to develop a blueprint that is sustainable, scalable and replicable throughout the world.” Navalpreet Kaur, director, Project Samuday, said, “HCL will help us bring a positive impact through its various interventions in the areas of education, livelihood, health, infrastructure, wash and sanitation and agriculture.” UNI
