Hisar, Sep 21: Four persons, including an Army were killed when their car collided with a truck near Piplapur village in the district, police said Friday.

The incident took place Thursday evening, they said.

The victims, identified as Ashok (25) and Deepak alias Kalu (27), Akshay (26) and Bijender (26), were on their way from Hisar towards Delhi, police said.

Hisar, Sep 19: A special court for heinous crimes against women here has sentenced a 68-year-old man to five-year imprisonment for attempting to rape a 10-year-old girl last year.

The crime took place on August 7 last year.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Dr Pankaj Tuesday sentenced Ram Kumar and also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on him.

In case of default, Kumar would have to further undergo an imprisonment of one month.

According to the complaint lodged by the victim's father on August 7, 2017, the girl, a student of class 5, was going to school when Kumar grabbed her and took her behind an idol where he tried to rape her

Two passers-by had rescued the girl.

On the basis of the complaint filed by the girl's father, Kumar was booked for attempt to rape and charged under relevant provisions of the law including under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Hisar, Sep 15: The Haryana Police claimed to have seized demonetised currency worth Rs 1.43 crore from three persons.

The seizure was made after police conducted a raid at a house in Navdeep Colony in the town on Friday night.

Police spokesperson Harish Bhardwaj said on Saturday that the accused were identified as Guriqbal Singh, resident of Vikas Puri in New Delhi, Sunil of Girawar village in Rohtak district and Praveen Kumar of Samar Gopalpur village, Rohtak.

During investigation, the accused admitted that they had procured demonetised notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 from a property dealer in Delhi by making a payment of Rs 7.50 lakh in the new currency.

The police were yet to ascertain the purpose behind the purchase of the scrapped currency while the interrogation of the accused was underway, police spokesman said.

A case has been registered in this regard, the spokesperson said.

Hisar (Har), Jul 13: A tree fell on the windshield of the Bathinda-bound Kisan Expres during heavy rains and storm, leaving the loco pilot injured, railway officials said today.

The train was running between Jakhod Khera and Adampur railway stations of North-Western Railway when the incident took place yesterday.

Officials said the tree hit the windshield of the engine at 7: 30 pm yesterday amid storm and heavy rains.

Some pieces of the broken windshield hit loco pilot Komal Prasad of Ghaziabad.

He was admitted to the Civil Hospital Adampur from where he has been discharged after first aid.

After the incident, another engine was brought to Adampur from Sirsa and the train left for its destination after a delay of about two hours, the officials said.

Hisar, Jun 27 : Twelve persons were injured in a clash between villagers of Puthi Mangalkhan and Peeranwali over a dispute on drawing canal water, the police said here today.

A case has been registered against nearly 300 persons in connection with the incident that took place yesterday at a spot about 30 km from here.

Eight motorcycles and a pump set of Haryana Public Health Department were set on fire during the clash.

Police said there was a dispute between two villages over drawing water from Puthi minor, a water source.

The Public Health Department had installed a motor pump to draw water from Puthi minor to water works of village Peeranwali. The villagers of village Puthi Mangalkhan reached the spot and raised objection over drawing of water from the source.

After heated exchanges between the two sides, hundreds of people gathered there and clashed in which 12 persons were injured. 

All the injured were admitted to Hansi and Hisar hospitals.

The bikes which were parked at the spot were also set on fire during the clash.   PTI
Hisar, Jun 27 : A district level volleyball player was shot dead by some unidentified armed assailants in Siswal village of Hisar district, police said here today.

The incident took place at about 10 pm yesterday under Adampur Police Station area when Kuldeep (25) was returning to his house in the village on a bike from community centre's volleyball ground, police said.

Before he could reach home, some unidentified persons came and opened several rounds of fire at Kuldeep, killing him on the spot, they said.

There was no street light when the firing incident took place and the accused managed to flee from the spot in darkness, the victim's kin said.

After receiving information, the police and forensic team reached the spot and started investigations.

The police have sent the body to civil hospital Hisar for postmortem examination.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident and further investigations were under progress, police said.    PTI

Hisar, Aug 29: Satlok Ashram Head Rampal and others were today acquitted by a local court in two criminal cases. However, the self-styled godman will remain in jail as there are more cases pending against him. The court of Judicial Magistrate (first class) Mukesh Kumar was temporarily shifted to the Central Jail number-1 to pronounce the verdict in the case in view of security arrangements. The court had completed the process of evidence in the FIR numbers 426 and 427 registered in Barwala Police Station on November 17 and November 18 in 2015, respectively. In November 2014, Rampal holed up inside his ashram in Barwala and thousands of his followers resisted the police and paramilitary personnel from arresting the self-styled godman. Five people were killed and several others injured in the violence. After a week-long stand-off, police nabbed the Satlok Ashram chief on an arrest warrant issued for repeatedly ignoring court summons. The police registered new cases against Rampal, including for murder, attempted murder, sedition, rioting and illegal detention. The court had deferred the date of hearing to August 29 in view of the Dera Sacha Sauda case during previous hearing on August 24. A special CBI court had sentenced Sirsa Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh to 20 years in jail yesterday. UNI


Hisar, Aug 4 : Two real brothers were shot dead and their friend was injured when some assailants opened fire on them in Balmiki Basti, police today said. The deceased have been identified as Sachin and Sunil. Their friend Vinod suffered injuries in the incident took place late last night. In a statement to the police, Vinod said Sunil, Sachin, Ajay and some other friends were playing cards outside their house in the street. An accomplice of accused Shankar came on the spot and argued with Sunil and others. Then Shankar opened indiscriminate fire on them from a pistol and shot dead Sachin and Sunil outside his house. Police have nabbed main accused Shankar and his accomplice Vicky. Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased blocked the road near Parijat chowk here. They raised slogans and demanded financial compensation, government job to a family member of the deceased and also immediate arrest of the accused. Later, SDM Paramjit Dhall visited the civil hospital and met the family members of the deceased. Police sent the bodies for postmortem. UNI
