          KARGIL, OCTOBER 31: A function was held at TFC Ground Kargil to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) which also commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.
          On this occasion Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali was the Chief Guest and Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Lai Khan was the guest of Honour. Deputy Commissioner Kargil, SSP Kargil, Brigadier 121 Infantry Brigade and district officers were also present.
          The programme was organized by District Administration in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra and District Police Kargil.
          An impressive March Past by Police Contingent was also presented at TFC Kargil.
          Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman said that Patel played a crucial role in uniting India and for the progress of the nation.
          He said the frontier district of Kargil is a live example of the strength of Indian Democracy.
          We cannot find such an example of unity which exists in Kargil in the form of a common Wall shared by a Gurduwara and Jamia Masjid at the same time, Haji Anayat added.
          He also thanked the Armed forces who are guarding the nation on the frontiers in such a tough geographical conditions.

          Later, the Chairman flagged off the Run for Unity from TFC Kargil which passed through main Bazaar Kargil and Adul Gound.

New Delhi, Oct 31: Delhi government on Tuesday observed the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as Rastriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day). On this occasion, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal administered pledge of 'National Unity Day' to the officers and officials of the Government here at Delhi Secretariat. New Delhi, Oct 31: The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday paid tribute to country’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary. "Our heartfelt tribute to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel on his birthday," the party tweeted. The birth anniversary of Sardar Patel is being observed as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday flagged off a 'Run for Unity' in the capital on the occasion. UNI

JAMMU OCTOBER, 30: To mark the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, slew of activities shall be organised by district administration Jammu with maximum  participation  of the youth in these events
Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Kumar R Ranjan, today informed this while elaborating on the arrangements being put in place for conduct of this national event.
He said that about 1500 children will participate in the Run for Unity from Satwari to Asia Chowk to be organized heretomorrow.
            Meanwhile, debates and seminars would also be held in Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi GHSS, Canal Road HSS and R.S Pura HSS as part of Ekta Diwas being observed across the nation.
          The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for smooth and successful celebration of the event. 



Kolkata, Oct 30: The Government observes October 31 all over the country as a day of special occasion, to foster and reinforce the Government’s dedication to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of our nation, by celebrating it as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, one of the founding fathers of the Republic of India. Sardar Patel, popularly known as the Iron Man of India, was born on October 31, 1875. Although his official birthday is still unknown, Patel wrote his date of birth to be October 31 on his matriculation examination paper, hence, the day is celebrated as his birth anniversary and is also observed as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day. One of the most influential personalities to have fought for Independence, Sardar Patel , hailing from a farmer's family lived a simple life and was known for his wisdom and diplomatic skills. Surpassing the celebrations in recent years, the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas this year is going to be a much bigger affair. The day will be marked by taking of pledges to uphold the nation’s unity, mass mobilization, paramilitary march past, Run for Unity, poster and quiz competitions and exhibitions to highlight the Sardar’s role at the critical juncture in India’s history. There will be celebrations at the national level and across the country. Preparations are in full swing. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, has written to Chief Ministers to make suitable arrangements for the celebrations. The occasion is really pious, as the nation not only has to mark its gratitude to a formidable personality of Indian freedom struggle, but at the same time educate and update the new generation about him. In the National Capital Territory of Delhi, celebrations on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas between 0700 and 0800 hours include offering Floral Tribute to Sardar Patel at Patel Chowk by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, followed by administering Pledge and flagging off the Run for Unity. ‘Run’ will take place from National Stadium - C-Hexagon – Shah Jahan Road Radial – India Gate (1.5 km). A large gathering is expected to participate in the Run. P.V. Sindhu (Badminton), Mitali Raj (Cricket) and Sardar Singh (Hockey) are likely to participate. The Run will be organized by experienced Coaches from Sports Authority of India. Ministries/ Departments involved in organizing the programme include Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Department of Sports, Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and GNCTD and Organizations involved include CPWD, NDMC, DDA, SAI, CAPFs and Delhi Police.           SAMBA OCTOBER 27: The District Administration has invited public participation in National Unity Day, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to be observed on 31st October 2017.
The administration is organizing various events like Pledge, Cycle Race, Marathon Race and Walkathon on  the occasion.
          Under the cycling category, the participants from Hr. Sec. Schools (Govt and Private), colleges, NGOs and citizens can participate. Besides, a Marathon Race in two categories under 14 and above 14 years age groups  for males and females will be organized. Likewise, a walkathon shall also be organized in which all district officers, members of ex serviceman league, citizens and students will participate.
          The interested can register their names with the Assistant Director Employment Samba for participation.

The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the event and Deputy Commissioner, Sheetal Nanda, has appealed the public to actively participate in the programmes.


SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 20: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today convened a meeting to review the preparedness of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) which will be observed on October 31, 2017.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Deputy Director Planning and other concerned officers were present in the meeting whereas all Deputy Commissioners including Leh & Kargil participated in the meeting through Video Conferencing.
The meeting was informed that the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel will be observed as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) which will be observed on October 31, 2017 across the country as well as in the valley. This day has a special occasion to foster and reinforce our dedication to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of our country.
Div com directed to hold Pledge Ceremony in all districts for which the text of the Pledge has already been sent to all DCs. He also directed to organize Run for Unity, March Past, Seminars, Debates and Painting competition in the schools, colleges and district levels for the Unity, Integrity and Security of the country.

Khan also directed all DCs to hold a meeting in their respective districts for the successful observation of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day).
