Muzaffarnagar, Dec 15 (PTI) A 38-year-old man was killed and 15 others were injured when their tractor-trolley collided with a canter on the Meerut-kKarnal highway near Itawa village in the district, police said Saturday.According to circle officer Hariram Yadav, the incident took place Friday and the injured were admitted to a hospital. An investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
New Delhi, Oct 17 (PTI) Nine persons, including the driver and conductor, of a DTC bus were injured as the vehicle overturned after being hit by a truck under the Wazirabad flyover in north Delhi Wednesday, the police said.The incident took place at 6 am when the bus was coming from Bhalswa Dairy en route Kashmiri Gate, a police officer said.Twenty-one persons were on board the DTC bus that met with an accident, the officer said.All the injured persons were rushed to Sushruta Trauma Centre and were discharged after treatment, Nupur Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) said.The truck driver fled from the spot soon after the accident, police said, adding the truck has been seized.A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
Amethi (UP), Oct 15 (PTI) All the three persons, including two women, who had received serious injuries in a road accident in this district of Uttar Pradesh on October 12, died Monday while undergoing treatment, police said.
The accident had occurred on the Musafirkhana-Gauriganj road, near Pindara village under the Musafirkhana police station, when the bike driven by Babulal Yadav was hit by a truck.The two pillion riders -- Yadav's wife Kamlesh and sister-in-law Kesh Kumari -- were also injured in the accident and admitted to a private hospital at Jagdishpur, but succumbed to their injuries Monday.The Station House Officer (SHO), Musafirkhana had taken the truck into police custody, but the driver had fled, the police said.Musafirkhana police has lodged an FIR against the driver.
Hathras (UP), Oct 15 (PTI) At least two persons of a family were killed and nearly six others injured when a tempo collided with a milk collection vehicle, police said Monday.According to Superintendent of Police Jaiprakash, the accident took place on Sunday night at village Karas on Iglas road.Of the six persons who were injured, five are in a serious condition. The deceased have been identified as Vimlesh Devi (55) and Gopal (40). The SP said the driver of the milk collection vehicle has been arrested and bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem.
Jaipur, Oct 13 (PTI) Eight persons, including three children, were killed and three others injured Saturday when a car they were travelling in collided with a truck in Rajasthan's Udaipur district, police said.The passengers travelling in the car were going for a picnic from Salumbar town to Udaipur city, when the accident happened near Khairad area, they said.Three students Lakshya Yadav (4), Gauri Chaudhary (7), Upendra Singh (5) and their teachers Manisha Goswami (28), Saroj Yadav (30), Monika Khateek (22), Geeta Ladauti and the owner of the school they taught, Santosh Rajput, died in the accident.Two more children and a teacher were injured in the accident, SHO of Salumbar police station Shailendra Singh said.The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Udaipur and post-mortem of the bodies was underway, police said.Udaipur is set around a series of artificial lakes and is known for its royal residences.
Sant Kabir Nagar (UP), Oct 13 (PTI) A 22-year-old man was killed and another received serious injuries Saturday when the motorcycle they were travelling in collided with a speeding truck here, police said.The accident took place in Lahure village under Dhanghata police station area. Station Officer Santosh Kumar said, "Sadre Alam and Ataullah were hit by a speeding truck carrying stones. Sadre Alam died on the spot. Ataullah was hospitalised." The body of the deceased was sent for post-mortem, police said, adding that efforts are on to nab the truck driver who reportedly fled the spot after the accident.The police have seized the truck.
Doda (JK), Oct 13 (PTI) A conductor of a bus was killed and another person was injured when the vehicle fell into a 150-feet deep gorge in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, police said. The deceased, Ishtiaq Ahmad was reversing the mini-bus in the absence of its driver when it skidded off the road and fell into the gorge at Malwana, Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda, Shabir Ahmed Malik said.Nazir Ahmad was sitting inside the bus when the accident took place and received injuries, he added.After getting information, a police party immediately rushed to the spot and along with the help of the locals, shifted both the injured occupants to district hospital Doda, Malik said adding, doctors declared Ishtiaq brought dead.
Maharajganj, Oct 13 (PTI) At least 14 persons were injured when a private bus overturned and fell into a wayside ditch at Bazardeeh here on Gorakhpur-Sonauli road, police said Saturday.According to Additional Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shukla, the accident took place Friday night, in which three passengers sustained critical injuries.They were referred to BRD Medical College Gorakhpur. The bus was on way to Gorakhpur from Sonauli when the accident took place, police said.
Muzaffarnagar, Oct 12 (PTI) : One person was killed and seven others were seriously injured after a tractor-trolley collided with a bus near Saderpur village here, police said Friday. The accident took place Thursday night on the Behsuma road, police said. The injured people are undergoing treatment at a local hospital, they said.
Muzaffarnagar, Sep 12 : Two persons were killed after their motorcycle was hit by a truck near Dewal village here, police said Wednesday.
The accident took place Tuesday evening in an area under the Ramraj police station.
The deceased were identified as Dharampal and Dhaniram, Station House Officer Kuldeep Singh said.
He said a case was registered and a search is underway to nab the truck's driver.
Hyderabad, Sep 11 : At least 15 passengers died and 20 others were injured after a state-owned Road Transport Corporation bus fell into a valley in Jagtial district Tuesday, officials said.
The bus returning from Kondagattu to Jagital skidded off the ghat road near Shanivarapet village and fell into the valley resulting in the accident, they said.
Over 40 passengers were travelling in the bus.
"The incident happened between 11.45 am and noon. At least 15 persons have died in the mishap...20 others were injured and they have been shifted to different hospitals," Jagtial District Collector A Sharat, who is supervising the relief and rescue work, told PTI over phone.PTI
Gonda, Sep 11 : At least five 'kawariyas' were injured when a bus rammed into them on the Gonda-Faizabad road, police said Tuesday.
Superintendent of Police Lallan Singh said the 'kawariyas' (devotees of Lord Shiva) were going to Prithvinath Temple for 'jalabhishek' after collecting water from the Saryu River in Ayodhya when the accident took place Monday night.
While four of them were discharged after first aid, one of them was seriously injured, police said.
The driver of the bus has been detained and is being interrogated, police said.PTI

Barasat(WB), Aug 28 : Two persons were killed and three injured when a car carrying them overturned after hitting a road divider in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district early today, police said.
The speeding car hit a road divider and then turned turtle near Belghoria on BT Road killing the driver on the spot, they said.
The injured were rushed to hospital where one of them succumbed to injuries, the police added.PTI
Bikaner, Jul 31: Five persons were killed when their jeep collided head-on with an oil tanker in Bikaner district today.
The accident occurred near Palana village on the Bikaner-Jodhpur Highway.
"Five persons have died in the mishap and efforts for their identification are on," SHO Subhash Bijarniya said. (PTI)
Islamabad, Jul 16 : At least 18 people were killed and another 30 hospitalised after a road accident early today in Pakistan's southern province of Sindh, police and rescue officials said.
The accident took place when a speedy trailer rammed into a bus, carrying people from a wedding party, in Hala area of Hyderabad district, the police said.
The bus had stopped on the National Highway to change a deflated tyre when the speeding trailer bumped into it from behind, they said.
The police said 18 people were killed in the accident.
Officials at the Edhi ambulance service said that they shifted 30 injured to Hala and Hyderabad civil hospitals.
Road accidents are common in Pakistan. Most of them are caused due to reckless driving and bad roads.PTI

Srinagar, July 9: Two Amarnath pilgrims died and five others were injured today in a road accident at Qazigund in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir while a volunteer died due to cardiac arrest at Sheshnag, taking the death toll in this year's pilgrimage to 17.
A private vehicle carrying four Amarnath pilgrims and the driver overturned at Zig Morh in Qazigund area while they were on their way to Srinagar from Jammu, a police official said.
While one pilgrim, Surinder Sindha from Ludhiana, died on the spot, another pilgrim Vinod Kumar succumbed to injuries while he was being taken to a hospital.
Five others -- four pilgrims and the driver of the vehicle - have been admitted to a hospital here, he said.
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old sevadar (volunteer), who was working at a community kitchen at Sheshnag, died due to cardiac arrest, the official said adding the deceased was identified as Ajay, a resident of Meerut.
With these, the death toll in this year's pilgrimage -- which began on 28 June -- has gone up to 17. (PTI)
Jalaun (UP), Jun 28 : Three members of a family were killed and five others injured when their car fell into a roadside ditch after being hit by a heavy vehicle in Kotwali police station area here, police said.
The accident occurred early yesterday near Kamakhya temple here when the family was returning here after attending a wedding function at a nearby place, police station incharge Sanjay Gupta said today.
While Nazir (24), Asma (22) and Rukhsar (19) died on the spot, five others were injured and admitted to a hospital, he added.
Rajkot, Jun 23 : At least seven persons were killed and 24 others injured when a truck carrying them fell into a rivulet near Rajula town of Amreli district, police said today.
The incident took place late last night when people from Mahuva town in Bhavnagar district were returning home from Amreli after attending a marriage ceremony, they said.
The driver of the truck lost control over the vehicle due to which it veered off the bridge and fell into the water body, police said.
"At least seven people, including three women, were killed, while 24 others sustained injuries when the truck fell into the rivulet near Rajula town of Amreli district," Nirlipt Rai, Superintendent of Police of Amreli, said.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, he said.
The deceased were identified as Kesarben Baraiya, Jaysukh Shiyani, Samjuben Arjanbhai, Bhanuben Kanabhai, Bharatbhai Lakhabhai, Haresh Jesa and Shobhaben Rameshbhai, police said.
A complaint has been lodged against the truck driver, who fled from the spot after the mishap, police said.PTI
Morena (MP), Jun 21 : Twelve members of a family on their way to a condolence meet were killed and eight others injured when a tractor-trolley hit their jeep in the district this morning, a police official said.
The sand-laden tractor-trolley hit the overloaded jeep carrying nearly 20 people of a family around 6 am at a cross road near Ganjrampur village, Morena Superintendent of Police Amit Sanghi told PTI.
Twelve of the victims died on the spot, he said.
Eight others sustained injuries in the accident and were referred to the district hospital for treatment, he said.
The victims, all from Gwalior district, were going to Ghurgan village for a condolence meeting, he said.
The driver of the tractor-trolley, carrying sand mined illegally from the National Chambal Sanctuary, fled the spot after the accident, Sanghi said.
A case was registered against him, he said, adding that a probe was on into the incident.PTI
Araria (Bihar), Jun 19 : Six children were killed and three others injured today, when a car carrying them, skidded off a road and fell into a pit filled with water, police said.
The incident happened under the jurisdiction of Kursakanta police station, the police said, adding, all the deceased, in the age group of 8-14 years, were members of an extended family.
The vehicle was a part of a convoy of six cars carrying a marriage party, a police officer said.
The driver of the car took a sharp turn to avoid hitting a child standing on road, rammed into a tree beside it, overturned and fell into the pit filled with water, the the District Magistrate (DM) of Araria, Himanshu Sharma said.
The marriage party was travelling to Raniganj block from Kursakanta block within the district, the DM said.
The car's driver fled from the spot after the incident, he said.
Locals pulled the occupants out of the submerged car, the DM said.
All the six children were declared brought dead when they were taken to Sadar hospital, he said.
The three injured were out of danger, he added.
An ex-gratia of Rs four lakh will be paid to the next of kin of each of the deceased, the district magistrate said.PTI
