          SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 05: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), J&K, ShaleenKabra today issued a detailed list of alternative documents other than Electoral Photo ID Card (EPIC) for voter identification for upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) polls.  
          He said the documents allowed for identification of voters at the polling stations during the ensuing ULB polls other than EPICs are: Passport, Driving License, Service Identity Card issued to its employees by State/Central Government, Public Sector Undertakings, Local Bodies, Public Limited Companies, Bank/Post office passbooks with photographs, Income Tax Identity (PAN) Card, Aadhaar Card, Smartcard issued by RGI under NPR
          Besides, MNREGA job cards issued in J&K State, Health insurance Smart card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, Pension Documents such as ex-servicemen’s pension payment order, Ex-servicemen’s widow/Dependent Certificates, Old Age pension order and Widow Pension order with photographs, and Voter Slip issued by Election Authority are valid alternative documents.

Jammu, Oct 04: BJP’s State Management Committee for Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections held a review meeting at its party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar.
The meeting chaired by BJP State President Ravinder Raina (MLA). State President was also accompanied by State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul, State General Secretary Dr. Narinder Singh and former Minister Sham Choudhary.
Ravinder Raina, while addressing the meeting, said that the BJP has today won unopposed seats in various regions of the state. He said that the BJP will also win the maximum number of seats in ULB elections owing to the hard work by all the leaders of party. He said that the senior most leaders of the party are moving in every council and committee to win the elections. He said that the BJP has done major development works and the leaders must take them to public mohalla wise and locality wise to make a concentrated effort for ensuring the win.
Ashok Kaul said that the ULB elections help in empowerment of common people, where he or she has a direct approach to the Corporator for various development works. He said that the elections will boost the development processes initiated by the BJP at the Centre and the State.
Dr. Narinder Singh discussed election related matters concerning the ULB elections with the leaders. Threadbare discussions were held on the electioneering going on in different wards. It was emphasized that all the senior leaders of the party must put their efforts at the ground level to win maximum number of seats.
The meeting was attended by State Vice-President Arun Gupta, MLC Vikram Randhawa, Charanjit Singh Khalsa, State Secretaries Aseem Gupta, Ajay Pargal, State Spokespersons Big. "ULB polls to empower people"
Jammu, Oct 04: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Spokesperson, former minister & MLA Priya Sethi today said those claiming to be fighting for the Swabhiman (Honour) are trying to divide the state on the regional, communal and caste basis where as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in true sense is working to upkeep the dignity, honour and respect of people of all three regions of Jammu and Kashmir state. It's towards this end that BJP gave this state an accountable and transparent government which was sensitive to people's issues.
On the front of development, Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu besides its Urban and Suburban areas are all getting their due share because of the central and state sponsored schemes which are getting implemented here without any pilferage.
This is for the first time that such a clean and transparent with government ensured that people oriented schemes reach the last beneficiary, she said.
During campaigning  in favour of BJP candidates in  different wards of Jammu East from day on, Priya Sethi said those politicians who have lost their grounds and are trying to gain some foothold by exploiting the sentiments of people are out to sabotage ongoing developmental processes.
She said it is the Bharatiya Janata Party which is working towards strengthening Swabhiman (Honour) of not only Dogras only  but also of Kashmiris, Ladakhis, Paharis, Gujjars, Bakerwals and all other irrespective of their cast, creed, region or religion.
This is the reason BJP is making inroads in Kashmir, Kargil and other areas. This is people's faith in BJP and it's leadership and because of policies of party that more and more people are joining BJP and strengthening it. 'Unlike Congress, NC or PDP we don't encourage dynastic rules and neither do we do politics of hatred and divide', She added.
The first ever women MLA of J & K  of BJP  party   and a strong leader of State  Priya Sethi urged people to vote  for their  candidates to strengthen Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and send right minded people into the Corporation. Victory of BJP candidates and  ensure massive development for the reason that it's candidates have a vision and enthusiasm to develop their cities, towns and villages.
The ongoing local body elections and proposed Panchayat elections are part of that process which will give people their right to be elected to the democratic institutions, work for their own wards, Panchayat and villages, plan their own developments and live and honourable and dignified life. She said certain corrupt leaders who when in power should have raised voice in favour of holding elections are today feeling ashamed for not having set rolling a democratic  canvassing  and are canvassing with their head hung in shame.
Former Minister informed that Central government schemes especially those aimed at empowering women are all meant to give this section of the society and honorable life, Be it Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Jan Dhan Yojana or free distribution of gas connections they are all meant to make women powerful and and end their miseries which they were facing till date.

Jammu, Sept 24: MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma along with BJP State General Secretary Dr. Narinder Singh conducted extensive tour of the Poonch region in which they held successive meetings and accompanied party candidates for the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections.
Nominations of the candidates for the ULB elections were filed with the great pomp and show while reaching the venue for filing nominations in form of huge rallies attended by hundreds of supporters.
Meanwhile a meeting in the Surankote, was also held in the regard to issue the strategy for winning the ULB polls with good margins.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, while addressing on the occasion, said that BJP has kept its promise and once again proven that it really works to empower the common masses by holding of these elections at the ground level. He said that although some political parties of the region tried to sabotage the process by giving poll boycott call, but the enthusiasm shown by the general public proves that it stands firmly for the development and the peace in the region. He assured the masses that all the candidates of the party will work for the better development of the region after forming Councils, Committees and Corporations.
Dr. Narinder Singh, in his address, focussed on the utmost need of the ULB and Panchayat elections in the state. He said that once voted to power, the BJP candidates will give pace to the development works in the area. He also said that these elections directly influence the local development and thus appealed the people to vote heavily in the favour of party candidates.

Asks political parties to adhere to MCC guidelines
 Jammu, September 20: Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar today convened a meeting with the representatives of various political parties regarding adherence of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) guidelines and their concerns related to Urban Local Body polls.
The DC informed that the Model Code of Conduct has came into force and asked the candidates and political parties to follow its guidelines. No violation of MCC will be allowed at any stage of election process, he affirmed.
No party or candidate shall indulge in any activity which may create communal hatred or cause tension between different castes and communities, religious or linguistic, the DC said, adding that, there shall be no appeal on caste and community basis for securing votes.
The DC asked the representatives to aware the people about elections procedure and EVM machines which are going to be used for the first time in ULB polls, so that people in huge number come out to cast their vote.
He assured them that foolproof security arrangements for the candidates and voters will be put in place to ensure smooth elections while exercise is on to identify sensitive and hyper sensitive polling stations.
Reiterating the election process, the DC further informed them that the nominations can be filled till September 25 and the scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on September 26, while candidature can be withdrawn by September 28.
Voting will take place on October 08, 2018 with polling hours from 7 am to 2 pm and state-wide counting of votes will be held on October 20, he added.
The meeting was attended by ADC Kanta Devi, Joint Commissioner JMC Pardeep Singh, Deputy District Election Officer, Ahmed Zaffar Banday besides other concerned officers and representatives of several political parties.

Jammu, Aug 11: BJP will sweep approaching ULB and Panchayat elections, this was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party State President Ravinder Raina (MLA), while he addressed series of meetings at party headquarter, attended by Prabharis, She-Prabharis, Elections Incharges, District Presidents and other senior BJP leaders.

Amritsar, Aug 14 : Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today announced a slew of welfare and development schemes for Amritsar including a Rs 3000-crore World Bank aided project to provide UNDC (Surface) Water based drinking water supply system in the city. The surface water scheme will replace the existing ground water based drinking water supply scheme, thus addressing a serious concern of the region, which is facing severe depletion of the ground water and cases of vector borne diseases. Stating this at a press conference here, the Chief Minister also announced several new development projects, entailing a total cost of Rs 556.90-crore, for Amritsar, which was being developed as a Smart City at a Rs 200-crore investment, of which Rs 100-crore will be shared by the State Government. Capt Amarinder announced the establishment of a Directorate of Fire Services at state level in Amritsar, along with 50 per cent seat reservation for women in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), in line with his government’s decision to make such reservation across the state. Another key decision of the Government relates to provision of free homes for the homeless people and subsidised houses for the economically weaker section under the Shehari Awas Yojana. The Chief Minister also announced devolution of proprietary rights to old tenants on residential and commercial properties of municipal bodies, besides one-time settlement of old arrears of water and sewerage charges and property/house tax. JAMMU, JULY 21- The Directorate of Urban Local Bodies in collaboration with Jammu Municipal Corporation today organized a workshop to intimate the Civic body officials and other stakeholders about the objectives under Swacch Bharat including the target of making cities and towns Open Defecation Free.  
          Director Urban Local Bodies, Arun Kumar Sharma   inaugurated the workshop organized by Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, here today.
 The workshop was attended by Chief Executive Officers of   Municipal bodies, officials of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Pollution Control Board, representatives of NGOs and people from diverse walks of life.
Addressing the participants, Director ULB said that the Union Government has come up with comprehensive schemes for scientific disposal of solid waste, Urban Transport Management and effective and efficient drainage system within specific time frame for their implementation.
He said that prime objective of the Swachh Bharat Mission is to ensure Open Defecation Free Cities and Towns by establishing individual household toilets, community based toilets and public toilets so that the target of clean India could be achieved by October 2, 2019.
          Joint Commissioner, JMC, R.S. Jamwal, said  that ODF involves work on various components like Individual Household Toilets, Community Toilets, Solid Waste Management, IEC & Public Awareness and Capacity building.
 Scientist PCB, Anuradha Gupta, said Installation of waste-to-compost and bio-methanation plants would reduce the load of landfill sites.  

Two analyst of QCI, Kovidh Dhyani and Jasleen Singh Malhi made the participants  aware  about   different schemes and programmes regarding the ODF certification. They said that the programme has been designed to achieve pre- determined objectives by the end of 2019.

JAMMU, JUNE 12: In yet another significant step towards modernization of services, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today launched the official Website of J&K Urban Local Bodies (ULB) that is now available at http://www.ulbjammu.org
 The ULB website has been developed to provide series of civic services to the people including online downloading of birth and death certificates of all municipal areas of the province, building permissions, development schemes. The website will also have a special page for filing public grievances and host of other services.  
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the purpose of launching the official website for Department of Urban Local Bodies is to reach out to the online audience effectively, providing benefit to the people to collect important information like contact details of various officers/offices including information on how to reach officials anytime and anywhere.
He said that web Portal will enhance transparency in the working of the department and also reduce the time taken for processing applications and seeking permissions.
Various developmental activities of the department are also being covered on the website; the Dy CM said adding that this is expected to have a great leveraging impact on the working and above all encouraging the effective participation from the cross section of people associated with the activities of Department of Urban Local Bodies.
On the occasion, Director ULB Jammu, Arun Kumar Jammu, Deputy Director, ULB Rakesh Kumar Gupta besides other senior officers of the department were present.
