Delhi, Aug 14 : Continuing its attack on the Uttar Pradesh Government on the deaths of over 60 kids in a Gorakhpur hospital allegedly due to lack of oxygen, the Congress today demanded resignation of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and state Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh to ensure an impartial probe into the incident. Talking to reporters here, AICC senior spokesperson Ajay Maken, calling on Prime Minister Narendra modi, to break his silence on the incident, said, 'the PM is vocal on incidents happening abroad. However, he has not made any statement on the Gorakhpur incident till date. We hope that the PM will apologise to the people of the country for the death of the kids due to the negligence of the state authorities.' Slamming BJP President Amit Shah for his statement that there was nothing unusual about the Gorakhpur incident, Mr Maken said,'Mr Amit Shah said that incidents like what happened in Gorakhpur were normal. Such a statement, coming as it does from the president of the ruling party, is highly insensitive and reflects the mindset of the Government.' Charging the State Government of attempting to shield the culprits in the incident, he said, 'till date, the list of the children who died in the incident is yet to be provided . Also, the post-mortem of the bodies is yet to be done which seems to be a clear attempt to shield the culprits.' UNI
