New Delhi, Nov 8: Leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of using unethical means to bring people from other parties into the BJP.
The attack on PM also lead him to slam Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for creating a 'divide' amongst his party committing 'political hara-kiri' joining hands with BJP, ignoring Sharad Yadav, the founder of the party. Mr Azad while speaking at the protest staged by Congress observing November 8 as 'Black Day', as the note ban completed one year today.  However, Mr Azad praised Sharad Yadav who also joined the Congress protest saying that Mr Yadav has stood the test of time in terms of abiding by principles and standing by the right. He said that people have tried their best to push Yadav out of the parliament, but he has always been firm and stood his ground. He further said that, earlier Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had initiated the dialogue and it was discussed amongst the 18 parties that were part of the opposition for observing November 8 as the 'black day' in the country. New Delhi, Nov 8: Marking the observation of Anti Black Money Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, top BJP leaders and Union Ministers on Wednesday launched an intense campaign in support of demonetisation on social networking sites and listed out "achievements" and said the move had only given positive trends to Indian economy.
Most Union Ministers including BJP chief Amit Shah tweeted making use of the hashtag #AntiBlackMoneyDay. Prime Minister Narendra Modi‏ posted a video on Twitter and said, "Here are the benefits of demonetisation, encapsulated in this short film. Have a look". "I bow to the people of India for steadfastly supporting the several measures taken by the Government to eradicate corruption and black money," he wrote in another missive. BJP chief Amit Shah in the midst of election campaign in textile-hub Surat joined party workers in a massive signature campaign and said the banning of high value currency notes - old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes - would go a long way in achieving a "New India" - that is free from corruption and black money.
"On #AntiBlackMoneyDay joined the nationwide Signature campaign supporting PM @narendramodi's commitment for a #NewIndia free from corruption & black money," Mr Shah tweeted. Among others, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani, Women and Child Welfare Minister Maneka Gandhi and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal also took to the micro blogging site. Ms Sitharaman also kicked off a signature campaign in support of #AntiBlackMoneyDay at Natesan Park, T Nagar, Chennai. "Grateful to the people of India for their trust and continued support," said Ms Irani. In her posting, Maneka Gandhi said, number of Income Tax Returns filed increased manifold thus "strengthening the economic structure" of the country. Transport Minister and former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari said, "Under the dynamic leadership of PM Modi, we will continue our crusade against the menace of black money and evil of corruption".
Mr Goyal in his missive said, "Black money has been there for a long time. Demonetisation has pushed India towards a transparent and formal economy".  BJP MP and party's youth wing chief Poonam Mahajan‏ wrote: "Today will be marked in history as a turning point."  UNI

Bengaluru, Nov 8: Union Minister Prakash Javadekar today alleged that Congress is supporting black money and hence it is celebrating 'Black Day' through out the country.
However, the BJP was observing 'Anti-Black Money Day' for the successful implementation of demonitisation on this day last year. "This clearly shows that the Congress is supporting Black money and institutions of corruption, while on the other side BJP which has began its war against corruption was taking many measures to curb the menace and bring to book those who indulged in such activities," he  added. Talking to newsmen here, Mr Javadekar said that 37,000 shell companies have been identified and two lakh companies have been de-registered. UNI

Bengaluru, Nov 8: Continuing its fight against corruption the BJP led NDA government at the Centre will make major announcements benefiting common people in the 2018-19 budget, Union Minister for Human Resources Prakash Javadekar today indicated. Talking to newsmen here, he said "major announcements are likely to be made in the next budget to give further boost to Direct Benefit Scheme". Digital transaction which is gaining more and more popularity will be given further boost to end corruption. "Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi used to say that when I sent Rs 100 from Delhi to rural beneficiary, he/she used to receive only Rs 15 that was the Congress regime. Now Modiji send Rs 100 and poor receives in his bank account the full amount of Rs 100," he added. Mr Javadekar said that after Digital transaction was introduced about Rs 64,000 crore leakage was plugged. Claiming that demonetisation was a success, Mr Javadekar said that the Congress which could not digest the popularity the Modi government gaining every day was observing the BJP government's Anti-Black money Day as 'Black day'. "This shows that Congress is indirectly supporting black money," he added. He said that the Modi government has not only introduced demonitisation to fight against corruption but also brought in four legislations to curb black money-- Benami transaction (Prohibition) Amendement bill, the Black Money (Undisclosed Foreign Income and Assts) and Impositionn of Tax Act, 2005 for Foreign Black Money and Whistle Blowers Protection. Mr Javadekar claimed that after series of strict measures taken by the Modi government to fight against corruption, the planks of Poor, who were supporting Congress, are now shifting to BJP. He said that the BJP Government has plugged the loopholes of Singapore, Cyprus and Mauritius route whereby black money was converted into white money through back agreement. "Now, this revised agreement has blocked this route of diversion. The re-negotiation of Tax Treaties and automatic information exchange agreements with many countries have also helped in sharing of Real Time Information for blocking black money movement," the Minister added.  UNI

New Delhi, Nov 8: Terming demonetisation an 'arbitrary' and 'unilateral ' decision by the NDA government, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said on Wednesday that in the past one year, 'it has wiped out confidence in our once booming economy'.
'One year ago, Narendra Modi bypassed the Reserve Bank of India, locked his cabinet in a room and gave the country just four hours notice before announcing his arbitrary and unilateral demonetisation scheme. Overnight 86 per cent of the value of India’s currency was withdrawn from circulation. The Prime Minister claimed his decision was aimed at wiping out corruption. Twelve months on, the only thing he has wiped out is confidence in our once booming economy,' Mr Gandhi said in an Op ed in the Financial times on the first anniversary of demonetisation. 
Describing the GST implemented by the government as 'hastily imposed' and 'poorly conceptualised' , Mr Gandhi said the 'complex' regime put in place by the government 
has devastated livelihoods, creating a modern day “Licence Raj” that imposes rigid controls and gives vast powers to government officials. Mr Gandhi said the demonetisation decision had shattered the economy.  'Demonetisation has wiped out 2 per cent of India’s gross domestic product, destroyed the informal labour sector and has wiped out many small and medium businesses. It has ruined the lives of millions of hard-working Indians. The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy has calculated that over 1.5m people lost their jobs in the first four months of 2017 due to demonetisation,'he said. Describing India's huge network of micro, small and medium businesses as the real force capable of meeting China’s dominance of the global job market, Mr Gandhi said instead of helping them grow, the Modi government had fatally wounded them with demonetisation and a flawed new tax. ' For India, the real force capable of meeting the Chinese job challenge is our huge network of micro, small and medium businesses. They represent India’s innovative capabilities and have the skills, knowledge and understanding to take on China’s manufacturing machine. We urgently need to empower these networks and connect them to capital and technology. But instead of helping them grow, the Modi government has fatally wounded them with demonetisation and a flawed new tax,' Mr Gandhi said. 
Noting that the challenge for liberal democracies across the world was to compete with Chinese organisation in a world with 21st-century levels of connectivity, while 'maintaining our liberal values', Mr Gandhi said Mr Modi had damaged India by converting anger created by joblessness and lack of economic opportunity into communal hatred.  'He has chosen to hide behind a shallow, hate-filled political narrative. Anger might have brought Mr Modi to power but it will never create jobs or fix India’s institutions,' he said.  In a tweet, Mr Gandhi described demonetisation as a 'thoughtless act' that destroyed lives and livelihoods.

Kolkata, Nov 8: Today, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the announcement of demonetisation, the Trinamool Congress Government would be organising ‘Black Day’ or ‘Kaala Dibas’ through a series of protest marches in Kolkata as well as in all the districts.
Stating this, a party statement said in the city the marches would take place in Sealdah, Dharmatala, Hazra, Jadavpur, Behala, Garia and other places. Also, till December 15, the Trinamool Congress will organise masscontact programmes across the state. Demonetisation has been a disaster for the country. Lakhs of people, more in the informal sector, lost their jobs, and tragically, more than 120 people were killed while standing in queues outside banks, trying to exchange demonetised currency or withdraw money in the newly-introduced currency. The disastrous measure of demonetisation that the Central Government promulgated on November 8, 2016 knocked the Indian economy unconscious. Getting back on its feet has been a herculean task. Many people lost their lives, and lakhs lost their jobs. Businesses in both the formal and informal sectors have been devastated. Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee  conducted protests against demonetisation across the country. Through her speeches and social media posts, she has proved that demonetisation was a huge scam by the BJP to hoodwink the people of the country, and serve its own interests. In fact, in a sign of her far-sightedness, she was the first political leader to speak out publicly against demonetisation, within an hour of the Prime Minister’s November 8 speech declaring the Centre’s decision.
The purported aim of demonetisation, of recovering black money, has been proved to be an empty boast. The Reserved Bank of India (RBI) has stated that 99 per cent of the demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, which formed an overwhelming 86 per cent of the paper currency on circulation, has come back into the economy, yet no black money has been traced.
' While we are strongly against black money and corruption, we are deeply concerned about the common people, the small traders. How will they buy essentials tomorrow? This is financial chaos, disaster let loose on the common people of India. He (the Prime Minister) could not get back the promised black money from abroad, hence so much drama, ' Ms Banerjee stated. ' We want to know from the Prime Minister how our poorest brothers and sisters, who’ve received their week’s hard-earned wages in one Rs 500 notes, will buy atta, rice, etc. tomorrow. This is a heartless and ill-conceived blow to the common people, middle class, agricultural cooperatives, tea garden workers, unorganised labour sector, shopkeepers, farmers and small businesses. New Delhi, Nov 8: Slamming the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government over instilling the demonetisation move forcefully on the people of the country, Indian Youth Congress on Tuesday midnight staged a protest in front of the Reserve Bank of India as note ban completed one year.
Demanding explanation from the Modi government, IYC national president Amarinder Singh Raja who led the protest along with other secretaries and party workers asked,' If black money came in then who were the people in possession of black money and what has been done against them in this regard'? he added questioning the government over the benefits of demonetisation.
He said that people of the country , especially the poor and downtrodden had to bear the maximum brunt of the note ban , while asking the government to give details about what were the outcomes of the move, while what benefits were there for the commoners post this step taken by the government. IYC prez stressed on the fact that people went through hardships , stood in long ques for 50 days,but for what , he questioned. He further said, " we are voicing our concern for the country and termed 8th November as 'Black Day'" , adding "today we are observing this day as it came in as a shock to the people of the nation". The IYC also alleged that the policy was disastrous and shook the entire economic structure of the country. UNI
