Samba, Oct 08: J&K state women's development corporation organized an awareness camp at Village Patli Morh Panchayat Patli Morh Block Bari Brahmana District Samba, Constituency Vijaypur  on 06. 10. 2018 to aware the women folk about the schemes being implemented by them. The Chief Guest of the camp was S.A Nazi Officer of National Board for Workers Education & Development (Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt. of India)
Speaking on the occasion (Kuldeep Singh Pathania District  Manager Women’s Dev. Corporation Kathua/Samba,highlighted various schemes being implemented by JKWDC viza viz NMDFC , NBCFDC, NHFDC WEP, and Education loan schemes launched by JKWDC for socio-economic upliftment of women. 
         S.A Nazi Officer of National Board for Workers Education & Development who requested the women to come forward and take the benefits of the loan schemes provided at nominal rate of interest. Also spoke about BETI PADAO BETI BACHAO and SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN.
Others who attended the camp were Gopal Sharma President Grameem Mahila Vikas Kendar, NGO Regd. Raj Kumar Sr. Member, Sunil Kumar Social Worker Staff JKWDC  & other prominent peoples. The women were made aware about state / centrally sponsored schemes launched and sponsored by the women’s Development Corporation for upliftment of women. At last refreshment was served to the gathering.

Speaking on the ocassion Dist.manager jammu Mrs.Rifat qamar  highlighted various schemes being implemented by JKWDC viza viz NMDFC , NBCFDC, NHFDC WEP, and Education loan schemes launched by JKWDC for socio-economic upliftment of women.

Banihal, Sept 17: J & K State Women’s Development Corporation organized an awareness camp at  Village Chachihal Panchayat Krawa, Constituency Banihal on 10
17/09/2018. The camp was attended by (Ravi Kumar District  Incharge  Women’s Dev. Corporation Banihal, Mohd Yousaf, Laqkat Ali , Abdul Rashid, Washim Shah Social Worker,  & other prominent peoples. The women were made aware about state / centrally sponsored schemes launched and sponsored by the women’s Development Corporation for
upliftment of women.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravi Kumar District Incharge  Banihal JKWDC Jammu , stressed upon the participants to take advantage of central sponsored schemes like NMDFC, NBCFDC, and NHFDC including Education loan and also one scheme implemented namely Empowered Skilled Young Women (ESW) under Sher-E- Kashmir Jammu and Kashmir State. They urged upon the women to take benefit of the schemes and establish their own income generating units by way of loans available at nominal interest rates to become self reliant.
Mohd Yousaf  of the area also spokes on the occassion about BETI PADAO BETI BACHA, SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN about
40/70 Women/ Men participated in the camp.
Our Managing Director is wants to every woman become a self reliant from the help of Govt. beneficial schemes like JKWDC’s loan schemes because JKWDC has to give the loan in nominal rate of interest and without any delay. On the spot disbursed Loan Application
forms among the interested women who want to self reliant. At the end of the camp refreshment was served to the participants.


LEH, SEPTEMBER 06: A one-day loan mela-cum-awareness camp was organised by J&K Women’s Development Corporation (JKWDC) at Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School hall to aware the prospective women entrepreneurs about how to avail loan for starting their business venture.
The programme was sponsored by National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) Ministry of Minority Affairs, GoI.
Nominated Councillor for Women Rinchen Lhamo presided as the chief guest while Managing Director, JKWDC Dr Naheed Soz, Project Officer Self Employment DRDA Leh Udham Kumar Sharma, representative State Rural Livelihood Mission Jigmet Angmo, were also present among a large number of interested women members of Self Help Groups, Ama Tsgogspas, and individual entrepreneurs.
Speaking on the occasion, Councillor Rinchen Lamo spoke about the importance of understanding the possible benefits of various schemes of JKWDC. She urged upon the participants to come forward, fully understand the schemes and take optimum advantage from different kinds of schemes. Lamo also spoke about the importance of achieving self-reliance among women through such schemes and made them realise that their hard work can take their projects to international level also.
On the occasion, Managing Director JKWDC, Dr Naheed Soz appreciated the hard-working attitude of the women of Leh district and promised to provide all possible help for availing the loan facility. She gave a brief account of the schemes. Talking of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao mission of GoI, Soz also spoke about the importance of educating girl child so that she can further teach her coming generations. Citing the Swachh Bharat Mission theme, she then spoke about the importance of maintaining personal hygiene and cleanliness.
PO DRDA, Leh Udham Kumar Sharma who is also the nodal officer for JKWDC, spoke in detail about the schemes and urged upon all the women participants to take optimum benefit of the workshop as well as involve others to draw maximum benefit from the schemes.
Earlier, Accounts Officer JKWDC Aijaz spoke in detail about the schemes of Term loan scheme, Micro-Financing Loan Scheme, Educational Loan, Mahila Samridhi Yojana, National Handicapped Finance & Development Corporation (NHFDC) and other schemes.
Later, No Objection Certificates to beneficiaries who returned their loans were distributed.


SRINAGAR, AUGUST 11: Secretary Social Welfare, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone today inaugurated a mega awareness camp-cum- loan mela here aimed to sensitize the women beneficiaries about various schemes being implemented by State Women’s Development Corporation (WDC).
The camp was sponsored by National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) and Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India.
About 800 women beneficiaries participated in the camp amongst whom loan application forms, as well as pamphlets, were distributed. A symbolic exhibition of products and live demonstration of training was also part of the programme.  
On the occasion, the Secretary appreciated the role of WDC in making the women socially and economically empowered. He further added that an amount of Rs 30 crore guarantee cover is issued in favour of JKWDC for providing financial support to the larger number of women beneficiaries for establishing their own income generating units.
Managing Director WDC Dr. Naheed Soz highlighted various activities and achievements of the Corporation which has immensely contributed towards the empowerment of the women.
The Managing Director also threw light on the issues related to the rights of women, health, nutrition, female feticide, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and skill development.
The camp was also attended by Child Development Project Officer, Srinagar and representative from J&K EDI who also made participant women beneficiaries aware of the schemes being implemented by these departments.

SRINAGAR, JULY 31: Secretary Social Welfare Department, Dr Farooq Lone, Tuesday emphasized on giving due priority to the uncovered areas so that people especially women living there can avail the benefits of various welfare schemes.
The Secretary said this while taking a detailed review of the functioning of the Women Development Corporation, (JKWDC) at a meeting here today.  
The meeting was attended by Managing Director, JKWDC, Director Social Welfare Kashmir, Director Finance, Social Welfare, Director Planning Social Welfare Department, Special Secretary Social Welfare and other senior officers of the department.   
On the occasion, Dr. Lone stressed that JKWDC should take initiatives of preparing high-end designs to compete at the international market after branding WDC products.
While highlighting the role of JKWDC, he said that the Corporation must become a role model for other agencies dealing with the empowerment of women.
He emphasized on giving due priority to the uncovered areas so that women living there can also be benefited by various schemes of the Corporation.
The Secretary Social Welfare said that the sole aim of the agency with other concerned departments should be to empower the women folk socially and economically so that they may be able to earn their dignified livelihood.
Managing Director, JKWDC, Naheed Soz, while giving a detailed resume of the activities and achievement by the Corporation said that the corporation “has been awarded at the national level for implementing various schemes and programmes in the state successfully”.
She briefed the Secretary about the present status of various schemes launched by the Corporation for the uplift of the womenfolk.
She said that JKWDC has disbursed Rs 164.09 crore amongst 15134 beneficiaries directly and 75,670 indirectly under various loan schemes.
She further stated that out of Rs. 164.09 crore, 70 crore stand repaid to Government of India which makes 100% recoveries till date. Under Educational loan Scheme, so far JKWDC has benefitted 431 girls throughout the country out of which 20 girls are perusing education abroad like China, Bangladesh, Ukraine etc.
The meeting was informed that State Technical Education Department has imparted training to 6000 women beneficiaries who were linked to Micro Finance Scheme of JKWDC wherein Rs 4.80 crore have been released.
Later, the Secretary Social Welfare also held a meeting to take stock of the Composite Regional Centre (CRC) activities.
The meeting was attended by Director of Social Welfare Kashmir, Director Finance Social welfare, Director Planning Social Welfare Department, Special Secretary Social Welfare and another concerned.
During the meeting, the Secretary was informed about the functioning of the centre which has been established for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.
The CRC is providing human resource development by way of training rehabilitation professionals, village level workers, multi-rehabilitation workers and others.

SRINAGAR, MAY 23: Minister for Social Welfare, ARI Trainings and Science Technology, Sajad Gani Lone, today inaugurated a three-day ‘Improvised Accessibility and Mobility’ camp at Indoor Stadium here.
The camp is being organized by Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities of Jammu and Kashmir of Social Welfare Department in collaboration with Composite Regional Centre (CRC) Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir Women's Development Corporation (JKWDC), Directorate of Social Welfare, ICDS, ICPS, and supported by KIWANI International.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stressed on initiating joint efforts to ensure that the disabled persons get better accessibility to all necessary services in a more pragmatic manner. “Such camps provide us with an opportunity to peep into the past endeavors and recognize our shortcomings for further improving the services towards these special people,” he said.
Interacting with some of the differently-abled persons, Lone said that society needs to understand that children with disabilities have great potential and if given an opportunity can contribute remarkably in all fields.
He also distributed wheelchairs among the beneficiaries on the occasion.
Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) Mohammad Iqbal Lone said that the Government is very keen for the welfare and empowerment of the disabled persons in the State. He said that aim and objective of the camp is that the persons with the disability can get themselves registered for providing artificial limbs free of cost and will avail the benefits of several schemes.           
The Coordinator of the Camp Shameem Ahmad, who is also Incharge of the Composite Regional Centre (CRC) Srinagar, said that on the first day around 130 disabled persons were registered in the camp and were checked by a team of Doctors and will be provided necessary required artificial limbs. He said that besides, other things, hearing-aid, wheelchairs and other associated appliances will be provided to the beneficiaries. 
Managing Director JKWDC, Director Social Welfare Mohammad Qasim senior officers of allied departments and media persons were present on the occasion.

Corporation Ramban/ Udhampur  Hans Raj Sarpanch, Mohd. Hussain Social Worker  Sunita Devi   & other prominent peoples. The women were made aware about state / centrally sponsored schemes launched and sponsored by the women’s Development Corporation for upliftment of women.

JAMMU, DECEMBER 14: Vice Chairperson Jammu and Kashmir Women Development Corporation, Vijaya Dogra today inspected various units established by the women beneficiaries in Jammu district.
The units visited by the VC included Knitting Unit of Smeeta Gupta at Nanak Nagar, Computer Unit of Mumta at Nanak Nagar, Boutique of Nadee Sharma at Shastri Nagar, cloth shop of   MallaatBalla Narwal, Dairy and Milk Products outlet of TahiraTabasum at Bathandi, Confectionery Unit of Poonam Gupta at Shaheedi Chowk and Tailoring unit of Shazia at Gujjar Nagar.
The Vice Chairperson interacted with the beneficiaries and took stock of progress in their respective income generating units.She found all the units are functioning properly and the money released in their favor has been utilized judiciously.
She advised the beneficiaries to further expand their activities as JKWDC is also providing a good marketing and related support to them in this regard. She said that the Corporation is also laying focus on encouraging self-employment ventures in various lucrative vocation like mushroom cultivation, Fish pounds, pickle making, making of natural cosmetic items etc.
The VC was accompanied by several senior officers of the Corporation during her visit.

Students learn about protection against Sexual Harassment at Workplace
          JAMMU NOVEMBER 03: An awareness programme on protection against Sexual Harassment at Workplace was held here at Women Studies Centre of Government College for Women, Parade.
 The awareness event, organised by J&K Women Development Corporation,   witnessed a thought provoking lecture by Dr Shivani Suri Verma.
  Dr. Hemla Aggarwal, the Principal of host College was the Chief Guest. Also present were Dr. Aruna Dubey, HOD Home-Science department, Prof. Nidhi Kotwal, Director Women Studies Centre, Prof. Seema Jolly and Dr. Anamika Baru.
           Dr Shivani  talked about types and forms of Sexual Harassment, its impact and consequences on victims,  need to prevent Prohibit and Redress this evil practice under Act-14, 2013.
Earlier, the session started with a welcome address and Introductory Lecture by   Rifat Qamar, Incharge, Development Officer, Jammu Division, J&K State.
The programme ended with interaction and feedback from the students

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 25: Vice Chairperson of J&K State Womens Development Corporation Mrs Vijaya Dogra today visited office of Managing Director, JKWDC and took stock of its functioning.
She had a detailed interaction with the Managing Director and other staff members.  She got firsthand information about the working of the Head Office and the Divisional Office and enquired about the problems faced by the staff members in the day-to-day working.
 She assured the staff members that their genuine grievances will be looked into and steps will be taken for their redress after the opening of offices in Jammu.

Later in the day, VC JKWDC also visited training centres run by JKWDC in Baharhaar Lal Bazar and Moti Mohalla Hawal and interacted with the trainees.  She emphasized upon the trainees to make maximum out of the training so that they are in a position to earn their livelihood and carve out a respectable place in the society.

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 23: Vice Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Women Development Corporation, (JKWDC) Vijaya Dogra today held a detailed review meeting regarding the functioning of the Corporation.
Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Tahir Parvez ,District Officer Abdul Rehman, District Manager Baramulla, District Manager Anantnag, District Manager Srinagar, District Manager Ganderbal, all field supervisors , and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, the VC said that all issues, including employees grievances will be taken up with the Government so that the Corporation can function smoothly.
