Jammu, July 05  :  Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Pankaj Magotra initiated the special sanitation drive under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan drive in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) from Narwal to Panama Chowk and Railway Station.

The people of the surrounding areas as well as shopkeepers were made aware about the mission of Swacchh Bharat Abhiyan started by Prime Minister of India Narindra Modi on 2nd October 2014.

Residents, shopkeepers showed keen interest in the initiative and assured to do their best so that Jammu tops the list of cleanest cities of India.

After making them aware regarding the proper disposal and segregation of daily waste of their homes and shops, they were asked to dump their Kitchen waste in blue dustbin and dry or plastic waste in green dustbin.

Residents and the concerned councilor of the ward appreciated JMC for the initiative.

JMC appreciated the IOC for their contribution in creating awareness about the sanitation in Jammu city. They provided Caps and T-Shirts and refreshments to all the participants.

Among others H.S. Sohi, G.M, I.B (IOC), Sanjeev Sharma Chief area Manager (IOC), A.K. Wazir, Chief Manager (IOC) Jammu along with JMC team members Dr. Saleem Khan, Health Officer JMC, Dr. Zaffaf Iqbal, Municipal Veterinary Officer JMC, Talat Mahmood Khan, Chief Transport officer, JMC, Jorawar Singh participated in the drive.


Samba, Oct 08: J&K state women's development corporation organized an awareness camp at Village Patli Morh Panchayat Patli Morh Block Bari Brahmana District Samba, Constituency Vijaypur  on 06. 10. 2018 to aware the women folk about the schemes being implemented by them. The Chief Guest of the camp was S.A Nazi Officer of National Board for Workers Education & Development (Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt. of India)
Speaking on the occasion (Kuldeep Singh Pathania District  Manager Women’s Dev. Corporation Kathua/Samba,highlighted various schemes being implemented by JKWDC viza viz NMDFC , NBCFDC, NHFDC WEP, and Education loan schemes launched by JKWDC for socio-economic upliftment of women. 
         S.A Nazi Officer of National Board for Workers Education & Development who requested the women to come forward and take the benefits of the loan schemes provided at nominal rate of interest. Also spoke about BETI PADAO BETI BACHAO and SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN.
Others who attended the camp were Gopal Sharma President Grameem Mahila Vikas Kendar, NGO Regd. Raj Kumar Sr. Member, Sunil Kumar Social Worker Staff JKWDC  & other prominent peoples. The women were made aware about state / centrally sponsored schemes launched and sponsored by the women’s Development Corporation for upliftment of women. At last refreshment was served to the gathering.


          SRINAGAROCTOBER 02: Department of Floriculture today carried out cleanliness and sanitation drives under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Pulwama and Bandipora districts.
          In Pulwama, the sanitation drive was held at District Hospital Pulwama. Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Floriculture Officer and other concerned officials were present on the occasion.
 During the drive, public park and adjacent streets of the District Hospital Pulwama were cleaned by the officials of the concerned department.
         In Bandipora, the drive commenced at mini secretariat by Project Manager,  Integrated Watershed Management Programme, Rafiq Ahmad Lone.
          Importance of maintaining hygienic and clean environment was emphasized on the occasion.
     Officials of Floriculture Department and other concerned were also present on the occasion.



Jammu, Sept 24: On a part of cleanliness drive, NSS wing of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University organized a swachh Bharat Abhiyan today to spread the awareness about ‘Swachh Bharat mission’ by the Government of India. A major derive was also conducted in the university for the removal of garbage and unused material from the campus. Faculty Coordinator NSS Mr. Sumanta S Sharma informed that that university had adopted nearby villages of Kakryal under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in order to transform them into model villages. The event culminating on 2 nd Oct, 2018 commemorates the 150 th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Dr. Anil K. Tewari, Nodal Officer, Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan emphasized to organize awareness camps to educate people about garbage management to keep their surroundings clean.Many students participated on the inaugural day where they cleaned various areas. The student coordinators of the event were Mr. Dhanraj, Mr. Saransh, Mr. Akhil, Mr. Prabhakar, Mr. Neel Kamal, Ms. Neha, Ms. Simran, Ms. Aruna, Ms. Shubhangi, Ms. Saloni and Ms.Sanya. Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjeev Jain appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged them to keep the surroundings clean and spread the Swachh Bharat Mission message among their family and friends back home.



Jammu, Sept 22: A programme was organised in the Gandhi Nagar Constituency under Swach Bharat Abhiyaan by Cantonment Board in which Former Deputy Chief Minister and MLA Gandhi Nagar Kavinder Gupta was Chief participant.
The Dignitaries who took part in Swash Bharat Abhiyaan were Vikram Randhawa MLC, CEO Cantt. Board P.D Stephen, Hardev Singh Vice Chairman Cantt. Board Jammu, Bharat Bhushan councillor Cantt. Board Jammu, Pawan Singh among other leaders.
Kavinder Gupta while speaking on the occasion said that this is an ideal step to act locally and think globally while fulfilling the dreams of our worthy Prime Minister Sh. Narender Mdi and as envisioned by father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Gupta said that Swach Bharat Abhiyaan is changing the face of India and in the days to come our country would stand out as one of the cleanest countries in the world.
He further said that unhygienic surroundings always self created, and this needs introspection, “Swachh Bharat Mission” is the flagship program of the Government of India and State Government is extending every possible help to make it a success, but for that everyone of us have to contribute as it becomes our collective responsibility to keep our surroundings neat and clean”. He Asked people to refrain from throwing garbage on streets, public places and open spaces, besides urging them to plant trees so that the coming generations inherit a healthy environment.
“The message of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ should reach every household”, gupta said adding that the educated class of the society should assist the Government in creating awareness among the masses about benefits of following healthy sanitation practices.
Vikram Randhawa said that women should participate in the Swach Bharat Abhiyaan in increasing numbers and set example in their areas for others to follow. He said that in the days to come Swach Bharat Abhiyaan would be organized in all the areas of Jammu and appealed to the people of Jammu to organise such functions in their areas.
Vikram said that Swach Bharat Abhiyaan is an awakening of our outerself. He said that our Rishi Munis showed us the way to purify our innerself and Modi Ji showed us the way to purify our ourself.
New Delhi, Aug 28 :  BJP president Amit Shah today inaugurated a day-long meeting of the party's chief ministers in which it was decided to meet targets of the 'Swachh Bharat' scheme in a time-bound manner.

The ongoing 'Gram Swaraj' project in over 48,000 villages was also discussed in the meeting.

Party sources said the meeting also passed a condolence message commemorating former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as a leader who brought to fruition the concept of good governance and in whose death the country lost a visionary.

BJP leaders also remembered Vajpayee's work to develop the northeast region and also create three new states as they paid him tributes.

Sources said it was decided in the meeting that the targets set for the 'Swachh Bharat' (Clean India) project should be met within a specified period.

Leaders also took stock of implementation of seven central welfare schemes, including distribution of cooking gas connection and LED bulbs among the poor and also their coverage under insurance schemes, in over 48000 villages.

The meeting has assumed significance due to the upcoming assembly polls in three BJP-ruled states and the Lok Sabha elections, which are less than eight months away.PTI



Udhampur May 10: J & K State Women’s Development Corporation organized an awareness camp at  village Mansar Block Mansar ( Udhampur) . The camp was attended by (Ravi Kumar  District Incharge Manager Dev. Corporation Ramban/ Udhampur  Hans Raj Sarpanch, Zaliwar Singh, Mohd. Hussain Social Worker,  & other prominent peoples. The women were made aware about state / centrally sponsored schemes launched and sponsored by the women’s Development Corporation for upliftment of women.
 Speaking on the occasion, District  Incharge Managar   Ravi Kumar Ramban/ Udhampur JKWDC Jammu , stressed upon the participants to take advantage of central sponsored schemes like NMDFC, NBCFDC, and NHFDC including Education loan and also one scheme implemented namely Empowered Skilled Young Women (ESW) under Sher-E- Kashmir Jammu and Kashmir State. They urged upon the women to take benefit of the schemes and establish their own income generating units by way of loans available at nominal interest rates to become self reliant. 
 Hans Raj Sarpanch of the area also spokes on the occassion about BETI PADAO BETI BACHA, SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN about 50/80 Women/ Men participatedin the camp.
Our Managing Director is wants to every woman become a self reliant from the help of Govt. beneficial schemes like JKWDC’s loan schemes because JKWDC has to give the loan in nominal rate of interest and without any delay. On the spot disbursed Loan Application forms among the interested women who want to self reliant. At the end of the camp refreshment was served to the participants.


Jammu, Mar 24 : Union Minister of State in Prime Minister’s office Dr Jitendra Singh on Saturday felicitated Nisha Rani, a class 10th student of Government Higher Secondary School, Kud who had gone on hunger strike to persuade her parents to construct Individual Household latrine at home.
The girl started the struggle for IHHL after an awareness programme was organised by district administration in their school regarding Swach Bharat Abhiyan.
Dr Singh appreciated the zeal of the girl to take such a step to bring about a positive change in her home and society which shall inspire others to work for success of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission'.
Dr Singh said that the girl has become an ambassador of the mission and we are not only felicitating her but also express our gratitude to her for efforts which shall strengthen the Open defecation free mission of the district.
He said government’s scheme require active partaking of the people in bringing about a positive perceptible change in the country
Earlier Dr Singh chaired a meeting of district officers to review the progress of ongoing developmental works and major project in the district in Udhampur district.
During the meeting , the minister took detailed review of various centrally sponsored schemes including PWD, PMGSY, RDD and CRF road, status of indoor and outdoor stadium Ramnagar , implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission, Maintenance of old road Chenani to Nashri etc.
He stressed for pacing up the work on various ongoing developmental works and assured liberal funding for the major projects so that they don’t get delayed.
Expressing concern over the increasing pollution of Devika River, Dr Singh said that immediate effective measures should be taken up for its cleaning and conservation. He said a DPR of the project is already prepared and will be sanctioned soon. UNI



UDHAMPUR, MARCH 12: District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar today asked the officers to create awareness among the general public about Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and Open Defecation Free (ODF) in the district.
This was stated by the DDC while interacting with accompanied officers of district administration during his visit to Panchayat Sial Jattan of district Udhampur, here today.
While speaking on the occasion, DDC said that the objective of the mission is to encourage and motivate such people to build toilets in their houses under the scheme.
He stated that in  first phase we are  taking  seven blocks of Udhampur district and constitute a  five intensive follow up groups who aware the general public regarding ODF during Swachh Bharat Mission campaign. He said that there is need to create awareness among the people to stop the open defecation. He further said that the people should come to know the disadvantage of open defecation and understand the importance of toilets.
Sarpanch of the Panchayat Sial Jattan and locals of the area were present on the occasion.

Imbibing moral values among people is key to every success


JAMMU, MARCH 12: Minister of State for Transport and, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Sunil Kumar Sharma, Monday, stressed on the need to evolve a society based on moral values where individuals voluntarily submit to the civic standards for cleanliness and hygiene. 
There is need to change the mind set and create awareness along with the creation of civic infrastructure because one cannot make people to shun ill practice by using force he added while addressing a seminar on Swachhta Bharat Abhiyan, here at Jammu University today.  
The seminar on the topic of Role of regional media and community mobilization for success of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was organized by Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, JK Region, in collaboration with Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, Jammu University, here today.
The Minister was the chief guest while as Vice-Chancellor of University of Jammu Prof. R. D. Sharma and Vice-Chancellor, Central University, Jammu, Prof. Ashok Aima were guests of honour on the occasion.
Director Information and Public Relations Muneer-ul-Islam, Director Rural Development Department Jammu, R. K. The Minister said that regional media played yeomans role in making Swatchh Bharat Campaign a success in the State. He said that Prime Minister has given slogan of Swatchhta, the media has played its role and it is now turn of common masses to change their mind set. He said imbibing moral values is key to every success, adding that it will change our mind set and will become responsible citizen of the nation.
Sunil Sharma said that keeping our surroundings neat and clean is the responsibility of every individual. It is moral duty of every one to think over Swatchhta which is concern of one and all said the Minster.
Highlighting the activities being carried out for making the campaign a success, the speakers said that making the State a clean and healthy place for living is the responsibility of every individual. They said that the Government can only float a scheme and making the scheme a success is responsibility of common people who are stakeholders. They said there is dire need that every citizen of State takes personal interest and participate in the Swachh Bharath Mission.
The Speakers said that too much consumption of bad quality plastic and thermo-coal material is polluting the environment which is harmful for the human lives. They sought cooperation of people to help local bodies in taking up pollution-free solid-waste management by segregating waste at source and not expecting others to clean the filth created by them.
Besides senior officers of the Directorate of Field Publicity, media persons and students of Jammu University, Central University and Government Polytechnic College, Jammu, were present on the occasion.


Calls for spreading message of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan


REASI, DECEMBER 23 - Minister of State for Finance and Planning Ajay Nanda today launched sanitation drive at Fountain Chowk in Katra.  
The drive was organized by Municipality of Katra in association with Indian Oil Corporation.
          Speaking on the occasion, the Minister called for spreading the message of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan to every household and they must be educated about the benefits of keeping the society clean. He appreciated the efforts of officers of Municipality for the drive and exhorted upon them to intensify similar drives in all 13 wards of Katra town.
            The Minister called for community participation in such programmes and asked the people to develop a habit of not throwing garbage on the streets.
            He stressed on the need to educate common masses and tourists for avoiding use of such things which turn environs filthy and unhygienic. He appreciated the sanitation workers for their dedication towards their work in making the holy town clean and honoured them for their dedication.
Later, the Minister also visited Middle School, Kund Kunyala and laid the foundation stone of additional classroom to be constructed under Sarva Skisha Abhiyaan.  

            SDM, Katra Neelam Khajuria, Brand Ambassador and International Hockey Player Sardar Didar Singh, Chief Executive Officer K.K Chalotra and other officers and officials of Municipality were also present on the occasion. 

POONCH, AUGUST 12: Deputy Commissioner Tariq Ahmad Zargar today flagged off a rally to create awareness about Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan from DC office Poonch.
ACD Zubair Shah, ACR, Ashraf Choudhary, CPO, DPO, BDOs besides large number of local people were present on occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, DC exhorted upon people to maintain sanitation for healthy environment. He appealed the general masses to come forward and join hands to make the district open defecation free.
On the occasion participants and dignitaries took a pledge to devote at least one hour in a week to make this drive successful. The participants also pledged to motivate 100 villagers to take this oath of keeping their home, locality, village and their workplace clean and green.
 It is pertinent to mention here that the rally will cover each nook and corner of the district Poonch in next three days to create massive awareness regarding ill effects of open defecation.
