JAMMU, JUNE 16: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Chaudhary today said that better road connectivity is imperative for ensuring equitable development of the state.
He said this after initiating the black topping work on Khepar to Jasore road here.
The Minister reiterated that the government has initiated several projects to improve road connectivity with special focus on border areas for holistic development of the state.
He informed that the blacktopping of 3 km long road from Khepar to Jasore via Kalali Tibba would be constructed by PWD (R&B) department at an estimated cost of Rs 52 lakh.
He asserted that durable roads and enhanced infrastructure tops the development agenda of the present dispensation and focus is being laid on upgrading and improving the road network in rural and remote areas.
The Minister further said the government has laid full focus on development of infrastructure and providing better civic amenities to the people of the state.
He said that government is laying emphasis on improving road network by linking internal roads with National Highways to give fillip to development activities in the state. The government is ensuring liberal funding under several state and centrally sponsored schemes to ensure overall development of the State, he added.
The Minister stressed on regular quality checks at both pre and post construction stages to ensure adherence to quality standards. Senior functionaries of the concerned departments besides prominent citizens of the area were present on the occasion.

Minister initiates 4-laning of Suchetgarh Road
JAMMU, JUNE 15: Emphasizing on providing better road connectivity to border areas, the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Chaudhary initiated the work on 4-laning of Suchetgarh road here today.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister reiterated that Government has initiated several projects to improve road connectivity with special focus on Border areas for holistic development of the state.
“The 6.78 Km long road costing Rs 15 crore will enhance the connectivity to Suchetgarh border post that has been developed as a tourism spot”, the Minister maintained. He stressed on regular quality checks at both pre and post construction stages to ensure adherence to quality standards.
The Minister said that the 4-laning of Suchetgarh road will give a boost to the Border tourism in the area and further added that the road connectivity should be seen in the larger context of socio-economic impact that it brings on the economy of such areas.
 “Government is working with a pragmatic approach to redress the core issues of the population living in border areas”, the Minister said , adding that, more development works will be taken up to meet the aspirations of the local population.
The Minister also interacted with the locals and gave a patient hearing to the issues and demands put forth by them. Redressing the grievances, he assured them that all their genuine concerns will be looked into on priority and directed the concerned officers to take adequate measures to mitigate the problems of the people in a time bound manner.
Senior functionaries of the concerned departments besides prominent citizens of the area were present on the occasion.

Interacts with shelling affected people
JAMMU, JUNE 08: Union Minister for Home Affairs, Rajnath Singh today rolled out string of relief and employment initiatives for border residents.
 Addressing border residents at series of interaction sessions here in R S Pura, the Home Minister said that centre is committed to provide every possible relief to the people living along the border areas. “We are abreast with your problems, you are facing tremendous hardships,” the union Home Minister hailed border residents while acknowledging their problems as recurring.  
The participants at the interaction sessions held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SKAUST and Chakroi in Tehsil R S Pura included   shelling affected Border residents and youth from C-BYTE Trainees (Centre for Border Youth Training & Empowerment).
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, Union Minister of State for PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary, Vice Chairman SC Advisory Board, Bhushan Lal Dogra,  Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLA Gagan Bhagat, Union Home Secretary, Rajiv Gauba, Chief Secretary, B B Vyas, Principal Secretary Home, R. K. Goyal, DGP SP Vaid, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Rohit Kansal, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Hemant Kumar Sharma, Rajeev Ranjan, IGP Jammu Dr  SD Singh, DIG Jammu Samba Kathua Range Rafiq-Ul-Hassan and Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Kumar.
Assuring more welfare programmes, Home Minister said government knows there is much to be done to solve the problems of border residents. Rolling out the employment initiatives, the Home Minister announced 2 Border Battalions especially for exclusive recruitment of border area population.
Giving further details, he said the government has decided to keep 60% posts reserved for border youth in the proposed 5 IR battalions. He also announced about the government’s plan to raise 2 Mahila Battalions, one for Jammu and one for Kashmir to give due representation to females in the security forces.
Announcing relief for shelling victims, the Home Minister said that the centre has decided to pay Rs 5 lakh to the Next of the Kin (NoK) of those killed in the cross border firing.  He further announced enhancement of compensation for loss of each milch animal in border shelling from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000.
      He also announced that the fixed depositing of the ex-gratia will be done away   and the   Rs 5 lakh compensation will be deposited directly into the bank account of the beneficiaries.
The Home Minister also assured to expedite the work of construction of individual and community bunkers proposed in border areas.   
He also announced 5 bullet proof ambulances for border areas.
Earlier, DC Jammu, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan gave a power presentation- the Border Profile of the Jammu District- in which he gave a brief view of shelling affected villages, loss of human lives and damage to property from January 2018, relief provided to the affected families, implementation of central assistance scheme, houses re-constructed under PMAY, Relief Camps and bunkers constructed, remedial classes facilitated for students from border areas and other major concerns of the Border residents.
Meanwhile, the Border residents submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister demanding permanent rehabilitation at safer places, One job to for  every border household and assured income for every family, enhancement of compensations, ambulances, compensation for land affected due to fencing, age relaxation in government jobs  for border youth, reservation in jobs and many alike issues.  
Later, the Union Home Minister also addressed the media persons at a crowded press conference here at Hari Niwas.

'Better road connectivity will usher into new era of development’
SRINAGAR, JUNE 07: Aimed to strengthen the road network in the Pampore constituency, Minister of State for Forest, PHE, Irrigation, Flood Control and Fisheries, Mir Zahoor Ahmad today kick-started macadamization work on the stretch from Manipora Village to Wuyan.
With the macadamization on 8.5 kms length at an estimated cost of Rs 11.88 crore, villages including Manipora, Tulbagh, Kanibal, Wuyian and Androosa will get smooth connectivity with National Highway.
On this occasion, residents expressed gratitude towards the Minister and said new chapter of development will begin with the macadamization of roads.
Senior officers of Public Works Department and other district officers of Pulwama accompanied the Minister.
Giving clear directions for adhering to road macadamization specifications as approved under Detailed Project Report (DPRs), Mir said that no compromise shall be made with the quality of the work.
The Minister also visited various areas in Pampore Constituency to review the pace of ongoing developmental works. He directed the officers to work with added zeal and ensure time-bound completion of these works so that their benefits percolate to grass root level.
Interacting with the people at different places, the Minister said that the present government headed by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is committed to provide improved basic amenities to the people of the State. He said that road connectivity is the top priority of the Government and necessary directions have already been given to the concerned to identify the uncovered areas so that all habitations would be provided better road connectivity and prepare required DPRs.
The concerned authorities apprised the Minister that with the ongoing phase of macadamization, all major routes will be macadamized during this year, besides strengthening the connectivity with all link roads.
En-route, several deputations met the Minister and apprised him about their individual and collective problems. These included construction of lanes, drains and culverts. The Minister gave them a patient hearing and assured them that their genuine demands will be looked into.

Says society gets direction from their presentations
JAMMU, DECEMBER 01: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary on Friday attended a musical concert organised by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Jammu in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Language.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the writers and singers give direction to society with their writings and presentations, saying that they have to make the presentations of good art from which future generations can learn lessons.
The Minister appreciated the organisers for organizing the musical concert, saying that such programs also encourage the budding local artists to show their talent.
On the occasion, Krishan Lal Premi Jatt, a local singer settled outside the State, presented his performance which left the audience spell bound. He expressed his gratitude to ICCR, J&K Academy of Art Culture and Language for the programme, hoping that more such programs will be arranged so that the new artists get a platform to showcase their talent.
A video prepared by JK Channel on the famous song of Premi Jatt "Loko Migi Taang Sajne Di" was also screened on the occasion. The mementoes and academy publications were also presented to chief guest, singer and other dignitaries on the occasion.
Among others, MLC Sham Lal Bhagat, Chairman, J&K Tribunal, Sarita Chouhan, Managing Director,  J&K Police Housing Corporation,  Danish Rana, Regional Director,  Indian Council for Cultural Relations,  Jammu Balwant Thakur, besides large number of music lovers were present on the occasion.
Earlier, receiving the complaint from inhabitants of locals, the Minister paid surprise visit of Water Supply Scheme Panjari Phase-II Sinki Chhapri of District Samba. The Minister directed to transfer four employees posted at the WSS including Fuman Singh, Rashpal Chand,  Romesh Kumar and Byas Raj. He also asked to maintain hygienic atmosphere in the WSS premises.

Says Govt committed to provide better healthcare facilities
ANANTNAG, NOVEMBER 25: The Minister of State for Hajj and Auqaf (Independent Charge), PDD, PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Industries & Commerce, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi today chaired a meeting of Rogi Kalayan Simiti (RKS) here at Verinag.
         During the meeting the minister was apprised about the achievements of RKS in the health sector during 2016 - 17. A detailed report regarding the functioning of RKS and NHM was also presented through a Power Point Presentation.
          The Block Medical Officer Verinag, while giving the details, said that during the year 2016 - 17 under RKS, Rs. 3.44 lac were approved  out of which Rs 2.70 lac have been spend so far, in PHC Verinag. She added that the number of institutional deliveries has increased drastically and no home delivery was reported this year.
            The minister hailed the work done by the Health Department in Dooru constituency and said that Verinag will be developed on modern lines with better healthcare facilities. He added that present government headed by CM Mehbooba Mufti is committed to provide better healthcare facilities to the people, education and road connectivity, for which dozens of projects under various flagship programmes have been started in the state.
          On the occasion, the minister announced Rs. 3 lac from his CDF for the development of the Khanqah e Faiz Panah at Dooru. 
           The minister said that peace is important for the overall development of the state. He congratulated the entire Muslim Ummah on the eve of Eid Milad Un Nabi (SAW) and prayed for the peace and development of the state.
        Among others, the meeting was attended by SDM Veerinag, Deputy CMO Anantnag, Block Medical Officer Veerinag, Members of RKS and other senior officers of various departments.

 Says better road connectivity to promote economic activities in area
          JAMMU, NOVEMBER 24:  Saying that better road communication plays a vital role in the socio-economic development of the people of an area, the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary said that the Government has formulated a comprehensive plan to provide improved road connectivity to the people of the State especially living in rural and border areas.
          The Minister was addressing a well-attended gathering at village Magowali of Suchertgarh Constituency after kick-starting the work of blacktopping on Magowali-Seer Ballah- Canal head road today. The 3.5 kilometres stretch to be blacktopped at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh.
          The Minister said that the improved road connectivity enhance accessibility, mobility and   promote economic activities, saying that a plan   has been framed to provide well-knit road connectivity in the area. He said that almost roads links of the area have been blacktopped and rest of them to be taken up for blacktopping very soon.
Referring to blacktopping of Canal Head-KotliMaffi road, the Minister informed that the work on the said road would be taken up soon as the concerned agency has already been directed for preparing the DPRs. He asked the concerned for taking up the construction work on small bridges and lifting of garbage along the roads so that widening of roads could be taken up easily.   
Reviewing the status of pace of blacktopping work on Magowali-Nanowali road, Sham Choudhary directed the concerned for accelerating the pace of work ensuring its timely completion with strictly adhering with the quality and specifications. He also visited Agrachak village and took stock of work on lanes and drains being constructed under BADP by Rural Development Department.
Expressing their gratitude to the Minister for developing Magowali village under Cluster Model village, the people of the village projected some demands which include construction of hall and community bathrooms. 

The Minister assured that their genuine demands would be looked into and redressed on priority.

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 24: Minister of State for Hajj & Auqaf, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Power, Industries and Commerce, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi on Friday paid obeisance at Zariat Sharief Peer Budhan Ali Shah at Satwari Jammu. 
On the occasion, Minister offered a Chaadar (Shawl) at the shrine and attended special prayers which were led by Imam, Hafiz Mohammad Aazim Ali. The Minister prayed for prosperity, development and peace of the Jammu and Kashmir.
Administrator Auqaf Jammu, Wakeel Ahmad Bhat who accompanied the Minister during his tour, briefed the Minister about the achievements registered by the Auqaf Jammu. The Minister asked the concerned for better upkeep of Auqaf properties and assets. He also asked the concerned to ensure cleanliness in and around the premises of the shrine.
During the tour, the Minister met various devotees who came to shrine for offering prayers and enquired from them about the facilities being available at the shrine.

The devotees suggested and projected various issues including opening of ATM facilities at the premises of the shrine. The Minister heard them patiently and said that he will take up the matter of opening of ATM with the concerned quarter on priority.
