RAMBAN, JUNE 16: Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour in district Ramban today.
The biggest congregation took place at Jamia Masjid, Sharif Ramban where hundreds of devotees performed Nimaz-e-Eid and prayed for peace, development and prosperity of the state as well as the country.
Elaborate necessary arrangements including security and other were made by the district and police administration for smooth celebrations of Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
Eid Namaz was also offered at other mosques of town and its outskirts including, mosques of Chandrog, Maitra and Upper Ramban.
On the occasion, officers of district administration extended greetings to the Muslim brethren. SSP Ramban Mohan Lal, ADC Gurvinderjeet Singh and Tehsildar Parmod Kumar greeted the people of Ramban and said that such occasions would promote unity, communal harmony and brotherhood in the state as well as in the district.
The festival was also celebrated in Banihal, Ukhral, Batote, Gool and Rajgrah.

JAMMU, JUNE 16: Eid-ul -Fitr was celebrated with religious fervor across Jammu region today.
Thousands of Muslims thronged various Eidgahs and mosques this morning to offer Eid Namaz which was followed by exchanging the Eid greetings.
In Jammu, biggest congregation was held at Eidgah Residency Road Jammu where thousands of people, accompanied by their children, offered Eid Namaz and exchanged Eid greetings.
The entire shrine, mosques and Imam Bargahs were decorated and people thronged in large numbers to offer special prayers since early morning. On the occasion, people prayed for peace and harmony in the state.
Elaborate arrangements were made by the district administration for smooth celebrations of Eid festival across the district.
MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Hemant Kumar Sharma, ADC Jammu Arun Manhas besides other senior officers were also present on the occasion and exchanged the Eid greetings with Muslim brethren.

JAMMU, JUNE 16: Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta today said Jammu and Kashmir is an abode of peace and tranquility where the people of different faiths are living together in harmony and mutual brotherhood since centuries. He said the auspicious occasions like Eid further strengthen the bonds of love and amity among different communities.
The Deputy Chief Minister said this while greeting people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr in a programme organized by Anjuman-e-Islamia at Bhatindi here.
Wishing the people well-being and prosperity, the Deputy CM reminded the people about the essence of Eid-ul-Fir. He expressed the hope that the holy occasion will strengthen the bonds of communal harmony and bring peace, prosperity and well-being for the state and people all over the world.
He hoped that the Eid-ul-Fitr would become the harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity for the state and its people.
On the occasion, people also apprised him about their issues including water scarcity, unscheduled power cuts, renovation of roads and many more alike. He heard the grievances patiently and assured that whatever has been brought to his notice would be taken up with the concerned authorities for appropriate action.

Kohima, Jun 16: The Muslim community in Nagaland today celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr by offering namaz at Eidgahs in Kohima and Dimapur districts.
They also gave alms to the poor and exchanged gifts with their near and dear ones on the occasion of the festival, marking the end of the Holy Month of Ramzan.
People of the Muslim community gathered at the Local Ground here to offer prayers.
Extending his greetings on the occasion, Nagaland Governor P B Acharya hoped that the occasion will usher in good will and harmony and strengthen the values of composite society everywhere.
The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr marks the culmination of the Holy Month of Ramzan, the month of prayers, blessings and forgiveness, the governor said in his message.
It reminds every member of the community their obligations and responsibilities towards other members of the society, especially the poor and downtrodden for peaceful coexistence and equitable progress of the state and the nation, he stated. (PTI)

Patna, Jun 16: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today joined devotees in offering prayer at Gandhi Maidan here on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and prayed for peace and prosperity of the state.
Kumar embraced, hugged and shook hands with the devotees and extended Eid greetings to them, an official release said.
After reaching Gandhi Maidan, Kumar met Imam Idain Hazrat Maulana Mahsud Ahmad Qadri Nadwi and greeted him.
"People observe roza in the holy month of Ramzan. I extend greetings to all Namazis including Muslim brothers and sisters on Eid. Eid symbolises brotherhood, love, peace and communal harmony. We all should strive hard to take the society, state and the nation forward," Kumar told reporters here.
At a prayer at the Gandhi Maidan here, Mahmud Alam, former Idain Committee sadar, honoured the chief minister by offering him a skull cap and a safa, the release said.
Later, he had sewai (vermicelli) with the children.
Kumar visited Khanqah Mujibia at Phulwarisharif and took blessings of Hazrat Sayed Shah Ayatullah Qadri for peace and prosperity of Bihar.
Talking to reporters on the occasion, Kumar said, "I come here every year and extend my greetings to the people on Eid. I feel very happy after coming here at Khanqah Mujibia. We all pray for peace, amity, brotherhood and communal harmony in society. (PTI)

Chennai, Jun 16: Muslims celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr in Tamil Nadu with usual fervour, with special prayers among others marking the day.
Prayers were offered across various mosques as well as designated prayer spots in different cities of the state such as Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Vellore and elsewhere.
People exchanged pleasantries and greeted each other on the occasion.
State leaders including Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister K Palaniswami and DMK leader MK Stalin among others extended their festive greetings.
"Eid-ul-Fitr brings to a close the month of Ramadan.
It is a festival of merriment and joy. On this happy occasion let us practise tolerance towards fellow citizens and promote communal harmony in society by adopting the path of prayer, kindness and generosity," Purohit said in his message.
Palaniswami said following the footsteps of late chief minister "Amma" (Jayalalithaa), his government had this year distributed 5,145 tonnes of rice to over 3,000 mosques spread across the state for preparation of gruel during the Ramzan month.
"Let peace prevail in the world," he said in a statement.
DMK Working President Stalin wished for the well-being and progress of the people of Islam and said their lifestyle should improve in all aspects. (PTI)

Amethi, Jun 16: A 24-year-old woman was killed and her toddler and a relative injured when a truck hit them while they were shopping for Eid-Ul-Fitr on Banda-Tanda national highway, police said today.
Sufiyan, a resident of Kasimpur village, was killed and her two-year-old son Shah Ahmad and a relative, Zubeda, were seriously injured when the truck hit them near Chand building in Jais here, a police officer said.
Sufiyan died on spot and injured were rushed to a hospital, he said.
The truck was taken into custody and investigation is underway, the officer added.
In a separate incident, Nandlal (58) was electrocuted when he touched a live wire connected with a shutter, police said.
Nandlal was rushed to the community health centre Amethi where he was declared brought dead by the doctors, they added. (PTI)

Srinagar, Jun 16: One person was killed during clashes between protesters and security forces in Kashmir today even as men, women and children dressed in their best thronged mosques and Eidgah across the Valley for Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
Sheeraz Ahmed was hurt during the clashes at Brakpora in Anantnag and he later succumbed to injuries, police said, adding another person was injured in the clashes in Safakadal.
Muslims from all walks of life started making a beeline to the Eidgah (prayer ground) or a mosque for offering the Eid prayers as a thanksgiving for the month-long fasting of Ramadhan.
The biggest gathering was witnessed at Hazratbal shrine where thousands of faithful offered the Eid prayers, officials said.
They said the second largest gathering was held at Eidgah in the old city.
Big gatherings of Eid prayers were also reported from Sonawar and Soura Shrines in the heart of the city, they said adding similar gatherings were held at all districts headquarters and major towns of the valley.
One person sustained injuries in the clashes in Safakadal area of the city soon after the prayers, a police official said. 
Clashes between protestors and law enforcing agencies were reported from Sopore and Kupwara areas in north Kashmir, the official said, adding the situation in other parts of the Valley was peaceful so far. (PTI)

SRINAGAR, JUNE 15: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has greeted people of the State on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr.
In her message, the Chief Minister prayed the month long fasting and the night long supplications of the faithful are accepted and rewarded by the Almighty. She hoped the spirit of generosity, discipline and piety generated through the Holy month is carried hereafter by people in day to day life as well. She also hoped this Eid brings along everlasting peace, happiness and prosperity to the people of the State.
The Chief Minister appealed people not to forget the disadvantageous sections of society particularly orphans, widows, destitute and all those who suffered during the turmoil of past three decades during the festivities of Eid and play their positive role in bringing them back to the mainstream of society.

SRINAGAR, JUNE 15: In view of the Eid ul Fitr, the Government has ordered the release of 115 prisoners, with least involvement, from various jails of the State.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, it may be recalled, had directed undertaking an exercise to release all those prisoners found not involved in serious crimes so that they can celebrate Eid with their families. The concerned agencies after undertaking the exercise decided to take lenient view and effect their release.

New Delhi, Jun 15: It's the day before Eid and the bylanes around Jama Masjid in the walled city are crammed with sights and sounds of festivities., but young Naved holding aloft a big cloud of balloons isn't quite sure what the excitement is all about.
Wearing a purple T-shirt over dirty blue jeans and standing barefoot in front of Jama Masjid's gate number 1, the balloon seller at just six knows about Eid but not about the month of Ramzan or why so many people have been coming to the mosque.
For many thousands of others in the city, the white domes of the iconic mosque and the streets around it are the places to be in the run up to Eid-ul-Fitr. It's about prayers and piety, but also about food and festivity.
As night falls over the city, locals in the area along with people from all over Delhi come to Walled City, crowding in for the sweet and savoury offerings reminiscent of an era stuck in time.
Shops with smoking kebabs on the grill, golden fried chicken in hot oil and piles of thick naan rotis flank both sides of the road on Matia Mahal, the road in front of Jama Masjid.
Asif of 'Cool Point Shahi Tukda' shop, which is famous for its desserts, including rabri, firni, badam milk and shahi tukda, a steaming hot Mughlai bread pudding, says the crowds swell after midnight.
This is the month of maximum business for Asif and the others in the Walled City.
"For iftar most of them go back to their homes, have dinner to break the fast and then they come back with families around midnight after the last namaz of the day," Asif said.
Despite an assortment of desserts on display, he said, most people ask for shahi tukda.
Outside the mosque's gates, Mohammad Rizwan, whose family has been selling 'dahi bada', lentil dumplings dipped in yoghurt, for the last 70 years, gets ready for the end of Ramzan and the festival.
Rizwan says he cares little about the sale he has in a day, believing in the almighty.
"I am the fourth generation selling 'dahi bada'. God has taken care of them, he will take care of us as well. Only he knows how much we make in a day," he said, opening a steel box of fruit salad to break his fast on the last day of Ramzan.
As the call for namaz reverberates, the crowd thins.
It is time for iftar, the evening meal to break the day-long fast.
Shahnawaz, a local of old Delhi, who comes to the mosque every evening to break his fast, says the crowds have been dwindling over the years. The dust and heat have played a part too.
"Earlier, the crowds were so thick that you couldn't walk," he said.
Mohammad Abid, a local wedding cards shop owner, concurs with Shahnawaz.
Increasing prices have also deterred people from coming to old Delhi.
"I have been keeping the fast for last 30 years and the crowd has only decreased. Looking at the prices, it is no surprise. People can't afford to come here to eat. And then there is the heat." 
But for now, those worries can be cast aside. It's Eid tomorrow and time for celebrating.
The narrow road is overtaken by an unruly fleet of rickshaws, autos and e-rickshaws. Far in a corner, Naved's balloons are faintly visible.
Even though he looked lost at the words roza and Ramzan, his eyes sparkled excitedly at the mention of Eid. (PTI)

Srinagar, June 13: The markets in Srinagar and elsewhere in Kashmir have put on their best look to woo customers but the sales have remained sluggish as Muslims in the valley start preparations for Eid-ul-Fitr which will be celebrated this weekend to mark the end of holy fasting month of Ramzan.
The markets have been specially decorated and the shops have lined up their merchandise in the hope of doing some brisk business ahead of the Eid, which will either fall on Friday or Saturday depending on the sighting of the crescent.
However, the general business sentiment in and around the Lal Chowk business hub is sluggish.
"The only shops which are making some worthwhile sales are bakeries and confectioneries. Rest of the shops in Lal Chowk, Residency Road and adjoining areas have not seen much activity with just two days to go for Eid," Iftikhar Ahmad, a financial consultant, said.
Parvaiz Ahmad, a ready made garments dealer, said the sales have been down since demonetisation exercise carried out in 2016 and implementation of GST this year.
"Before these two steps were taken by the government, people would spend handsome amounts on Eid. The spending now is limited as many things have become expensive after GST," Ahmad said.
Gonikhan market, which is popular for women and children items, is usually jam packed with customers a week ahead of Eid. However, this year the sales are not as brisk.
"I used to some additional manpower to help with sales on Eid but since last year, that is not the case. My regular staff is able to handle the flow of customers," Shabir Ahmad, a shop owner, said.
This year the positive thing has been the largely diminished presence of beggars on the city streets. 
The number of beggars, who would swarm Srinagar from all parts of north India during Ramzan, fell by a large extent after Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Abid Rashid issued an order, warning them of arrest. (PTI)

SRINAGAR, JUNE 27 – In connection with the celebrations of Eid-ul-Fitr an impressive Eid Milan was organized by Member Legislative Council, Saif-ud-Din Bhat at Arigam in Budgam today, wherein a large number of people from all walks of life from Budgam district participated.
On this occasion, Mr. Bhat extended Eid greetings to the people and wished them good health and prosperity. He called for maintaining peace, harmony and mutual brotherhood for the prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.
The people also exchanged pleasantries with each other and prayed for peace in the State. The people also highlighted the local demands before the MLC, which mainly pertained to the upgradation of basic infrastructural facilities.
Mr. Bhat also called upon the Government to take necessary steps for the overall development of the Budgam district, with special focus on Khan Sahib Segment. He also listened to the grievances of people and assured them to address these on priority.

Chairman, LC offers Eid prayer at Islamia School Campus


                KARGIL, JUNE 26- Thousands of Muslims offered Eid congregational prayers at the Islamia School Campus in Kargil today.
Members of Ullama Council Kargil, Chairman J&K Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali, CEC LAHDC Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Councilors and district officers participated in the Eid prayers. Imam Jumma prayed for peace, prosperity and communal harmony of the people and State.
Haji Anayat Ali conveyed his best wishes to the people on this auspicious occasion and hoped that this Eid will bring harbinger of new dawn of peace and prosperity in the State. He said that the people of the State in general and Kargil in particular to work collectively for strengthening the communal harmony, inter-community relations and peace in the Jammu and Kashmir to ensure prosperity for all.
Haji Anayat Ali along with hundreds of youth walked through main bazaar Kargil and visited the residence of President Hozia Ilmiya Asna Ashriya Kargil Hujjjatul Islma Wal Muslameen Sheikh Nazir Mehdi and wished the family on this occasion. They also visited to the Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan to extend good wishes.

Such a gathering was also organized at Hussaini Park Kargil by IKMT Kargil where MLA Kargil Haji Asgar Ali Kargili along with thousands of people participated in Eid Ul Fitr Prayers.

MLA, officers of civil, police adm greet Muslim brethren


           Jammu, June 26: Like other parts of the country and State, the Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in Jammu with religious fervor and gaiety. All the Mosque in Jammu city were decorated magnificently and markets witnessed huge rush of people who were busy in purchasing sweets, gifts and clothes.
The mega Eid-ul-Fitr congregational prayer was held at Eidgah, Residency Road, where thousands of devotees offered Namaz.
In his religious sermon, the Imam, who led the congregational prayers threw light on this sacred festival and said  that the spirit behind observance of Eid-ul-Fitr is to express our thanks to Almighty Allah for granting courage to observe fast in the month of Ramadhan and rededicate ourselves to the path of truthfulness, sincerity, self-control, patience and human dignity.
          On the occasion, MLA Rajesh Gupta, Divisional Commissioner, Dr  M K Bhandari, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Dr S D Singh Jamwal, ADC  Dr Arun Manhas, besides other senior functionaries of civil and police administration were also present and exchanged Eid greetings with Muslim brethren and prayed for peace and tranquility in the State.

Poonch, June 20 : Deputy commissioner Tariq Ahmad Zargar along with concerned officers today visited Poonch Eid -Gah and held a brief interaction with its committee members to take stock of arrangements for Eid.

For ensuring adequate facilities for Eid prayers, DC instructed the executive engineer PHE to make necessary arrangements for uninterrupted water supply on ensuing holy days at Eid-Gah and also at other Jama Masjids.

Similarly executive engineer of PDD was directed to maintain power supply during prayer hours.

Executive Officer municipality was directed to keep, the areas of Eid -Gah neat and clean and to install temporary washroom facilities at the Eid -Gah.

Later the Deputy Commissioner held a meeting to review the arrangements in connection with Samagam at Gurudwara Dheri Sahib, Poonch.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gurvindergeet Singh, ASP, Masroor Ahmad Mir,  Executive engineers of PDD, PHE and R&B, Chief Medical Officer, AD FCS&CA, ARTO, food safety officer,  custodian chackan -da-bagh,  representative of Sikh community  and all other concerned officials.

The DDC directed the concerned departments to put in all possible efforts to ensure adequate facilities at Gurudwara Dheri sahib.

He asked the concerned departments to properly regulate supply of water, power supply, transport and medicare.

Similarly, the police and traffic authorities were directed to ensure security and better traffic management to avoid any inconvenience to the devotees.
