"NC, PDP halted progress of their workers"
Jammu, Sept 28: Former minister, MLA and State BJP spokesperson Priya Sethi today said that elections of Jammu municipal corporation and other local bodies will give a whole new set of people to give went to their desires of serving people and making their towns and cities aesthetically beautiful.
During door to door campaign in favour of BJP party candidates Narotam Sharma (Ward No.3), Anil Kumar Masoom (Ward No. 10), Savita Anand (Ward No. 11) in Jammu East constituency. Priya Sethi went to meet people along with hundreds of party workers at different locations in these wards and sort votes for BJP.
Priya Sethi said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is one of the biggest Civic action program ever launched in the history of India.
She further added that it is the vision of Narendra Modi that entire country today is witnessing at three tier system of governance which was missing in many states especially in Jammu and Kashmir, now that these elections are being held the powers will be decentralized and common people will be given authority to decide about their own future.
She said these elections are going to be historic as a good number of people are participating in these polls.
Referring to the victory of BJP candidates unopposed in Kashmir valley, Priya Sethi said has happened  because of the increasing faith of people of Kashmir in the leadership of Bhartiya Janta Party lead by PM of India Narendra Modi & BJP National party president Amit Shah.
Former minister said that these elections have provided young boys and girls of Jammu and Kashmir a golden opportunity to participate in democracy and represent their wards in developmental processes. This platform can enable the elected counsellors to make Jammu and Kashmir model Cities to be replicated by other cities of the country.
Urging voters in Jammu and Kashmir to elect BJP to ULB Priya Sethi said huge funds have been blocked because of non existence of corporations and town area committees after these elections central funds will flow to the state enabling counsellors to develop their wards as per the wills and wishes of people.
Condemning PDP and NC for not participating in local body elections Priya Sethi said these political outfits have betrayed their own party leaders and voters. She said that PDP and NC workers who had been working in their respective wards since past so many years are today feeling dejected and many of them are even contesting the polls independently.

Jammu, Sept 20: While National Conference (NC) and Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) are using 35A to bycott the elections of Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), the Congress is trying to play with the emotions of the people of the state, Kashmir in particular, by assuring that if voted to power, nothing will happen to this Article of the Constitution. This is another evil attempt of the Congress to mislead the people just for the sake of getting votes, said BJP State Spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan in a press handout.
How can the Congress state with such a certainty about the future of Article 35A when the case has yet to heard by the Supreme Court and give its final judgment? The statement of Congress President amounts to the contempt of the Apex Court, reads the handout.
Balbir Ram Rattan stated that Congress is the root cause of all the problems being faced by the state of Jammu & Kashmir, yet it is unwilling to accept the same and continues to mislead the people under the false belief that it can undo the past by playing with their emotions.
By making such a statement on 35A, Congress has betrayed the people of Jammu and Ladakh regions, who are against the continuation of 35A, Balbir said that when the same Congress says that the issue is within the powers of the State Legislature, it should first explain why this fact has dawn on this party now when it has been ruling the state for decades.
The Supreme Court had advised on a similar line while giving judgement on the case of Bachan Lal Kangotra versus State of Jammu & Kashmir, wherein the Court had hinted that “various local legislatures of J&K are discriminatory to West Pakistan Refugees (WPRs). J&K State Legislature to take action to amend various legislations to grant possible reliefs to the WPRs”.
Why has Congress failed to act on the advice of the Apex Court while in power, questioned the Spokesperson adding that the people of J&K are not gullible and they fully understand the game plan of the Congress and will teach it a lesson in the forthcoming elections.
Balbir also took serious note of the statement of the Congress party terming BJP as a communal party and reminded the Congress that it was the harbinger of communal and caste politics of India.

Srinagar, Sept 20: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday expressed hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reciprocate the offer of talks made by his Pakistan counterpart Imran Khan, saying dialogue was the only way out of the stalemate.

Khan has proposed a meeting between Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York this month.

In a tweet on its official handle, the PDP said, "Thank you PM @ImranKhanPTI for your positive gesture. We hope PM @narendramodi will reciprocate your sentiments. Dialogue is the only way out of this stalemate".

PDP, which was a coalition partner of the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir government till its fall on June 19 this year, was reacting to a tweet by Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Mohammad Faisal.

"PM (Imran Khan) has responded to PM Modi, in a positive spirit, reciprocating his sentiments. Let's talk and resolve all issues. We await formal response from India," Faisal wrote on Twitter.

Ties between India and Pakistan nose-dived following a spate of terror attacks on Indian military bases by Pakistan-based terror groups since January 2016. Following the strikes, India announced it will not engage in talks with Pakistan, saying terror and talks cannot go hand-in-hand.

Amid heightened tension with Pakistan over Uri terror attack in which 18 soldiers were killed, India had pulled out of the SAARC Summit to be held in Islamabad in November, 2016. (PTI)

Srinagar, Aug 21: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may not have taken action against its 'rebel' members after they raised a banner of revolt against the party leadership, but its official Twitter handle has un-followed some of them, a party leader said.

The move is being seen as a sign of no reconciliation between the 'rebels' and the party leadership, a PDP leader said.

PDP's official twitter handle, @jkpdp, has over 23000 followers and follows 17 accounts.

Some of the Twitter accounts the PDP follows include party leaders, legislators, journalists and even actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha.

However, the list does not include any of the PDP's seven rebel legislators -- five MLAs and two MLCs -- led by the influential Shia leader Imran Ansari a former minister and MLA Pattan.

Soon after the BJP ended its coalition with the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir, Ansari led a revolt against Mehbooba Mufti's leadership accusing her of nepotism.

He was joined by his uncle and MLA, Zadibal, Abid Ansari, Baramulla MLA Javaid Baig, Tangmarg MLA Abbas Wani, Noorabad MLA Abdul Majid Padder, MLC Yasir Reshi and MLC Saifuddin Bhat.

The party's Twitter handle follows MLAs Raja Manzoor Khan (MLA Karnah), Haseeb Drabu (MLA Rajpora), Aijaz Ahmad Mir (MLA Wachi), Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali (MLA Darhal) and Abdul Haq Khan (MLA Lolab), and also Naeem Akhtar (MLC) and Firdous Tak (MLC) apart from party president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.

"The Twitter handle used to follow few of the rebel party leaders - like Ansari and Reshi - who were active on the social media and the handle would often retweet their tweets. However, after the revolt in the party, the handle not only stopped retweeting Ansari's tweets, but also unfollowed him," a party leader said.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, he told PTI that 'unfollowing' the rebel leaders on Twitter "was a beginning" and more steps were likely to be taken.

"This is just the beginning. More steps are in the pipeline," he said.

Asked if the party would suspend the rebels, the PDP leader said "That option is open for us. We have gone a bit slow and are waiting to see the situation."

When contacted, a party spokesperson declined to comment on the issue. (PTI)

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 16: A delegation of PDP led by Sh. Abdul Rehman Veeri, former Minister, met Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan today.
The delegation expressed concerns relating to the legal challenge to the Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution; raised issues relating to the security concerns of their Party members arising from threat of attacks on its leaders and workers; up - gradation of schools and creation of new colleges as decided by the outgoing government; engaging unemployed youth who had been given training in the tourism and floriculture sectors; need for conservation of Dal and Wullar Lakes; and allowing ERA to also handle World Bank aided projects.
The delegation thanked Governor on his decision to hold the long overdue elections to the Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats.
Governor urged the PDP delegation to raise awareness about the vital importance of the forthcoming elections to empower people and establish urban and rural self- governing democratic bodies.

KARGIL, Aug 8: Former Minister & BJP Spokesperson Priya Sethi today said, BJP led union government had massive plans for Ladakh region including Kargil and it is towards this end that massive infrastructural projects were initiated besides people oriented schemes launched that are benefitting the population especially women in this region.
Addressing a press conference here today she said Kargil would have developed at par with any other region of the country had political outfits like Congress, National Conference (NC) and PDP not encouraged and promoted dynastic rule in J&K State. Since these political outfits continued to patronage their wards and kins people were never empowered as left to fend for themselves.
Vikram Randhwa Seh Prabari Kargil and MLC, Distt President  Mohammed Ali, Mahila Morcha President  Lilla Bano Lama, Pulzor BJYM President Mohamod Hussain were present in the press conference.
Urging people to throw these promoters of dynastic politics out of power, Priya Sethi said elections to Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil are very crucial and a right time to keep such forces at a bay. The development of Kargil, she added was also put in cold store by these very politicians.
Priya Sethi said development including better connectivity, harnessing solar hydro power, women empowerment and better employment opportunities were all initiated during the BJP regime which if continued sincerely will make Kargil a hub of solar and hydro electricity. It was during BJP stint that Kargil and Zanskar got development authorities.
The BJP spokesperson added that Kargil was the economic powerhouse due to equidistant from Ladakh, Srinagar and Skardu but dynastic lust of those in power ruined it. However, Kargil is sure to regain its glory once Srinagar-Leh highway and tunnels are built to give the region all weather connectivity.
Giving details of development projects she disclosed that agriculture soil testing laboratory was also established here and to reduce pressure on farm labour which comprises of mostly women 50% subsidy on agriculture tools and machinery was also extended to the region.
Under PMDP, 5 apricot solar dryer cum space heating with energy storage on 90% subsidized rate was installed on July 28 last at different locations in Kargil on a trial basis, Priya Sethi informed and added that these projects are sure to increase the economic potential of the farmers of Kargil who has a total area of 1900 hectares for production of fresh fruit.
Kargil, she added is on the developmental map of union government and to save about 7,800 metric tons of Apricot produce - main cash crop a cold Storage powered fully by Solar Energy with a capacity of 1000 metric tons is on the anvil. The project was sanctioned during BJP regime. 
Giving details of other projects initiated during BJP regime in the state, she said under PMDP, Rs.50 Crore has been allocated for construction of girls hostels in 07 degree colleges of the state, Girls hostels have been approved for GDC Paloura, GDC Thathri, GDC Rajouri, GDC Bemina, GCW Kupwara, GCW Pulwama, GDC Kargil/Leh besides 200 bedded hospital is coming up at KUBATHANG KARGIL.
Urging people to have faith in BJP leadership, Priya Sethi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently inaugurated 44 Mega Watt Chatuk hydro electric power project which is a run-of-the-river project built on the Suru river in Kargil. During the sun drying process, the fruit loses its natural colour and turns dark brown. This is the major drawback of traditional method of sun drying in Ladakh are that Ladakh is one of the major producer of apricot in India, but, at present almost 90% of the fresh apricot being produced in this cold arid region go waste and its market value stands abysmal. The prime reason for such debacle is the lack of proper network for processing and supplying apricot products in Ladakh and elsewhere in India.
The local apricot growers, though, have the knowledge of cultivation and drying, but, they are devoid of any modern technical skills for proper preservation, storage, transportation and marketing of apricot products. This results in a huge less not only to the poor farmers but also to the economy of Ladakh  in general.
Ladakh's apricots are of premium quality and stood among best apricot internationally. But the issue of concern is, there is an insect called Codling Moth, which cause huge damages to apricot and apple as well. Hence, the government has put a ban on exporting fresh Apricot and Apples from Ladakh to outside its district.
Solar power generation capacity planned for Ladkah was 5,000 Mw, for Kargil was 2,000 Mw
Udan service to Kargil was also started for convenience of people. The sector was opened in January 2018. It is due to some internal airlines problem that service has to be stopped. It will be resolved and new players are coming to take those sectors, she informed.
Vikram Randhwa Seh-Prabari Kargil and MLC said that what Congress couldn’t do in 65 years BJP did in four years like once 14.2 km longest tunnel of Asia at an estimated cost of Rs 6089 cr. Will be through the area will see remarkable change. He added that Union minister for surface transport Nitin Gadkari is monitoring project regularly and there's no time delay. This is also going to be important from defence point also. It will create employment opportunities as well.

Jammu, Aug 02: BJP Human Right Cell state Convenor, Prof. P.L. Kaul took serious note of another partition of India remarked by PDP member of Parliament Muzzaffar Baig at a rally to mark the people’s democratic party’s 19th foundation day at Srinagar. Prof. Kaul confronted Baig for his antinational statement in which he said that the nation will face another partition if incidents of moblyinching in the name of cow vigilantism continued. The threat by PDP leader of division of the country is totally antinational and deserves strong condemnation from all the patriotic Indians. India stands united and those conspiring to divide the nation will never succeed in that mission, said Prof. Kaul. BJP HRC is totally against any type of lynching be it on cow slaughter, honor killings in the name of case or religion, police killings or ethnic killings of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley, Human killing or taking law in own lauds by individuals or group is unjustifiable in democracy. There is a need to emphasize upon in Govt’s. Irrespective of who is ruling where, to enforce the laws, irrespective of identify of culprits and victims. On former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s remark that her decision to ally with BJP was like drinking a cup of poison, said Prof. Kaul that PDP Chief totally failed in ensuring law and order situation and national security which faced the BJP to pull out of the government.

Jammu, July 31: Senior BJP Leader and Former Dy.CM Kavinder Gupta slammed the recent statements given by PDP leaders in the Srinagar and Jammu events of its foundation day celeberations. Mr.Gupta quoted by saying that the PDP is now a “Paralysed and Defected Party”.
Former Dy. CM Kavinder Gupta was in Pathankot to attend Mahajan Sabha program where he slammed the PDP leaders for their statements in both the Programs at Srinagar and Jammu. He said the Former CM of the State Ms. Mehbooba Mufti is in frustration due to rebellion in the party against her & her family. She again has started to oxygen the Separatist and miltancy activities which is totally un-accepted to BJP and the nation and termed the statement as anti-national.
Gupta while addressing the delegates of the Mahajan Sabha, said that the programs of get together of the Sabha should be arranged on bi-annual basis and Sabha should get involved the other activities of social importance. The delegates should spread the message of brotherhood in their respective areas and help the needy people. He also stressed on the moral education to the children at home.
Later in the evening Mr. Gupta met many delegations at his residence in Jammu, and listened to them. He assured them that all their genuine demands should be met out soon.

Jammu, July 13: Lashing out hard at the statement of the leader of the PDP party, the former Deputy Chief Minister and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta said, it is very unfortunate on the part of such senior politicians to issue misleading statements which are hostile to the process of peace and national interests.
Interacting with the media persons, during tour of his legislative constituency, the former Dy Cm said, soon after the withdrawal of support by the BJP,  legislators of the PDP came out openly against the their own party chief for promoting nepotism and compromising with the core issues with in the government and their party.
Such statements are the outcome of her failure in handling the affairs of the state in impartial manner and thus denying the due share of development to all the three regions, which was the core issue of the alliance partners, clearly mentioned in the agenda of alliance “AOA”, moreover she created a sense of confusion and regional divide among the people, he further said.
As per her allegation against us for trying to split his party goes, it is just a baseless allegation on her part and is just the outcome of the frustration citing uncertainty in her political career along with denial of support by her own party men, further justifying her annoyance is the sacking of her two time member legislative council from the post of PDP district president.
The former Dy Cm suggested her that she shouldn’t be worried about the situation of J&K as the BJP led Centre government is very much concerned about our state and regularly monitoring the day to day activities here and taking the requisite measures, her claim that the situation of Kashmir will again see the days of late 80’s and early 90’s is again ridiculed and condemned by him.
Earlier, he visited Hari Vihar, Kunjwani,, Raipur Satwari and inspected the ongoing development works of the rural development and PWD (R&B) department and also laid inauguration for blacktopping and other development works in these areas.

Srinagar, Jul 13: In her first public appearance after resigning as Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti today said any attempt by the Centre to "engineer" a split in her party will have "extremely dangerous" consequences.

Mehbooba resigned as chief minister on June 19 after the BJP pulled out of the coalition with the PDP in the state and withdrew support to her government.

"My party is strong, there are differences which can be resolved. However, if there are any attempts to engineer a split in the PDP like it was done in 1987 to commit robbery on people's vote and to crush the MUF (Muslim United Front), the results will be extremely dangerous," she told reporters here.

Mehbooba also recalled that the events post the 1987 Assembly elections had "created" Syed Salahuddin, the supremo of the banned Hizbul Mujahideen, and Mohammad Yasin Malik, the pro-Independence JKLF chief.

Salahuddin is now based in Pakistan.

"There are differences in every party like there are differences in every family and these can be addressed...

"There can be no splits without Delhi's involvement. In 1987, the robbery on people's vote created one Salahuddin and one Yasin Malik," the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief said.

Mehbooba was talking to reporters at the Martyrs' Graveyard at Naqshband Sahib after paying tributes to those killed in firing by soldiers of Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh on this day in 1931 during protests against his autocratic rule.

This was her first public appearance in the state after she resigned as chief minister.

After the government fell, several PDP legislators raised a banner of revolt against Mehbooba's leadership and accused her of nepotism and favouritism during her tenure as chief minister.

Reacting to Mehbooba's statement, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said it would not matter to Kashmiris if the PDP breaks up.  (PTI)

New Delhi, Jul 7 :  BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav today rejected reports that his party was working to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir with rebel PDP MLAs and said that it was for continuing with Governor's rule in the state in the interest of peace, governance and development.

His comments on Twitter came after former state chief minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah tweeted a news report that claimed that a "big chunk of PDP MLAs are in touch with the BJP high command" and the saffron party was looking to form government.

"Contrary to Ram Madhav's assertions, the state unit of the BJP confesses to being party to the efforts to break the PDP . Power at any cost would seem to be the guiding philosophy," Abdullah said, tagging the BJP leader in his tweet.

Madhav, the BJP's pointsman for the state, replied: "Not true. I will certainly check with the state unit and ensure that BJP keeps itself scrupulously out of whatever is happening in other parties in the Valley.

"We are for continuing with the Governor's rule in the interest of peace, governance and development in the state," he said.

The BJP had last month pulled out of the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir, bringing the state under Governor's rule.PTI

Mumbai, Jun 21: In a vitriolic attack on the BJP, the Shiv Sena today charged that the saffron party opted out of power in Jammu and Kashmir after spreading anarchy, and said history will never forgive the party for its "greed".
When the BJP failed to check terrorism and violence in the northern state it pinned blame on the People's Democratic Party (PDP), the Sena said comparing the move to the way Britishers "decamped" from India.
It also lashed out at Pime Minister Narendra Modi, saying "running a nation is not a child's play."
Jammu and Kashmir was yesterday placed under Governor's rule for the fourth time in the last one decade after the BJP withdrew support to its alliance partner PDP, prompting Mehbooba Mufti to resign as the chief minister.
"The BJP opted out of power in Kashmir after spreading anarchy in the valley," the Sena alleged in an editorial in party mouthpiece 'Saamana'.
"The situation had never deteriorated to this extent there, rivers of blood had never flown so extensively and never had so many jawans lost their lives before," said the BJP's ally at the Centre and in Maharashtra.
All this happened during the BJP's rule in the valley. However, PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti was blamed and the saffron party opted out of power like a gentleman, it quipped.
"The government in Kashmir was formed due to greed (of the BJP). The country, jawans and people of Kashmir had to pay a heavy price for this greediness. Thus, history will never forgive the BJP for this," the Marathi publication said.
It said Prime Minister Modi and his party were voted to power at the Centre after he promised a solution to end terrorism in Kashmir.
"But people today feel the (previous) Congress-National Conference (coalition) government in Kashmir was better. Today Kashmiris are attacking the Army, terrorists are attacking Army posts. Jawans are being martyred everyday and innocent people are losing their lives," the Sena rued.
The defence minister offers condolences to families of martyrs on tweets, it said in remarks laced with sarcasm.
Ruling a nation is not a child's play, it added.
Taking a dig at the prime minister's frequent foreign tours, it said while Modi travels around the world, the United Nations in its report on Kashmir blamed the government for violation of human rights on people.
The Uddhav Thackeray-led party also sought to know what happened to assurances of 'ghar wapsi' (homecoming) of Kashmiri Pandits and striking down Article 370 of the Constitution.
"Terrorism has increased by a thousand times after demonetisation. Intrusions by Pakistanis have increased.
Deaths of soldiers have increased despite there being no war.
When you failed to stop all this, you pinned the blame on the PDP. Britishers too decamped in the same manner," it charged.
The PDP-BJP government in the northern state collapsed on Tuesday ending the saffron outfit's three-year- old alliance with the regional party. (PTI)

Kolkata, Jun 21: The situation in Jammu and Kashmir will improve under Governor's rule, Union minister Mahesh Sharma said today.
In 2014, the BJP had made arrangements to form a government with the PDP because of the political situation in Jammu and Kashmir and for the benefit of the state, he said.
The Minister of State for Culture and Tourism was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an International Yoga Day event here.
"We kept it (alliance) for three years, but now with the present political situation having changed, the time has come for such a rule (Governor's rule). A rule where the might of the state can take on terrorists with the help of the people," he said.
The minister said, "With the imposition of Governor's rule, the situation in the state will change for the better, and the change is already apparent with the security forces and police working with more confidence now."
The impact of the change will be felt soon, Sharma said.
The state was brought under the Governor's rule yesterday, after the BJP withdrew support to the PDP-led government the day before.
Without naming any country, Sharma said, "the entire world knows the role of a country in Kashmir. That country now stands isolated in the entire world."
On militant activities in Kashmir, he said "We'll free Kashmir of terrorism and win back the misguided section who happens to be our own countrymen," he said, describing Kashmir as the "Pride of India".
BJP national secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, who also attended the Yoga event, said, the BJP-PDP alliance in J-K was built on a common minimum programme, but could not last.
Imposition of Governor's rule will help improve the situation in the state, he said. (PTI)

New Delhi, Jun 20: Jammu and Kashmir was today placed under Governor's rule for the fourth time in the last one decade after the BJP withdrew support to its alliance partner PDP, prompting Mehbooba Mufti to resign as the chief minister.
A Home Ministry spokesman said "the President has approved imposition of Governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir with immediate effect." 
The political developments of Jammu and Kashmir continued to dominate the night as President Ram Nath Kovind was in mid air when governor N N Vohra sent his report to the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The details of the Governor's report were immediately sent to Suriname where the president was scheduled to land at 6.30 PM (3 AM IST) on his maiden visit.
"After concluding his consultations with all the major political parties, the Governor has forwarded his report to the President for imposition of Governor's rule under Section 92 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir," a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said last night in Srinagar.
The president after pursuing the report gave his assent and the same was sent to the Union Home Ministry by 6 AM IST following which a process of promulgating Governor's rule was prepared and sent to Srinagar.
This is the eighth time
in last four decades that the state has been put under Governor's rule and fourth during the tenure of Vohra since 2008.
The BJP stunned Mehbooba Mufti last afternoon after they pulled out of the over three-year-old ruling coalition with the PDP in the state and called for Governor's rule.
BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav made this announcement that the party was withdrawing support to the coalition government which had been wracked by bitter political feuds and worsening security challenges.
"It has become untenable for the BJP to continue in the alliance government in Jammu and Kashmir," Madhav had said yesterday.
Governor's rule was imposed in the state for the first time during the tenure of Vohra for 174 days after the PDP withdrew support to Ghulam Nabi Azad-led Congress-PDP coalition government in 2008.
The PDP withdrew support to the government on June 28, 2008 following widespread protests during the Amarnath land row agitation that pitted Hindu-dominated Jammu region against the Muslim-majority Kashmir valley.
The central rule came to an end on January 5, 2009 after National Conference leader Omar Abdullah was sworn in as the youngest chief minister of the state.
Governor's rule was imposed in the state for the second time during his tenure after the assembly election results on December 23, 2014 threw up a hung assembly with no party or combination of parties able to stake claim for government formation and Omar Abdullah, the caretaker chief minister, asking to be relieved from the duties with immediate effect on January 7.
The central rule ended after the PDP and the BJP stitched an alliance paving the way for the return of Mufti Sayeed as chief minister on March 1, 2015.
Last time the state was put under the central rule on January 8, 2016 after allies-- the PDP and the BJP-- deferred the government formation process following the death of Mufti Sayeed. It came to an end after Mehbooba Mufti was sworn in as the chief minister on April 4, 2016. (PTI)

Jammu, June 16: Addressing the issues of masses, Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Choudhary conducted public and Karyakarta Darbar for the public as well as BJP activists to address their problems at Party Headquarter Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
While expressing his views on Public interaction programme, Sham Choudhary said that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi led government at Centre as well BJP-PDP Government in the State is committed to the welfare of public at ground level. BJP follows the principle of ‘Antodaya’, he said adding that BJP is committed to address each and every problem faced by public. He said that BJP has chalked out a schedule to conduct these types of programmes on a regular basis where anybody can approach for their social or political problem. He also said that BJP has ensured direct interaction between government,  public and Karyakarta to make sure that every genuine mass issue could be promptly addressed.
Several deputations meeting the PHE Minister, highlighted various important issues for the redressal. They projected their personal as well as public problems. Deputationists asked for the hand pump facility in various parks, cross roads and near localities for ease of drinking water. Other deputations asked the minister to intervene in their issues related to drinking water supply, flood management, revenue related problems and other developmental issues in their respective areas. Minister addressed many of the problems by telephonically talking to the authorities and issued written instructions for others.
The whole programme was coordinated by State Secretary and State In-charge Election Related Matters Rajinder Sharma and Additional Office Secretary Suresh Sharma.

JAMMU, MAY 25: Expressing grave concern over unabated killing of people on the borders, the Team Jammu today regretted that residents of Jammu region have became victim of the ‘political ceasefire’ announced by the BJP led NDA government at the Centre to keep coalition partner PDP and anti-India separatist groups of Kashmir Valley in good humour.
Addressing a meeting of the executive committee members of the Team Jammu to review situation on the borders, Chairman of Team Jammu Zorawar Singh Jamwal lamented on-going blood-bath on the borders of Jammu region has authenticated the allegation that BJP led government at the Centre has made this region as laboratory of its ‘political experiments’ to appease Kashmir centric groups, be it mainstreams parties or separatists groups, who preached secessionism.
“The way Jammu region has been ignored in taking important decision it appears that Centre has decided to conduct all its political experiment in this region by playing with lives and emotions of the people of Jammu”, Mr Zorawar Singh Jamwal said and regretted that despite opposition by the Jammu people Union Government had announced unilateral and unconditional ceasefire for the holy month of Ramzan due to pressure from Kashmir Centric parties. “After announcement of unilateral ceasefire violence has been shifted in Southern  region of Jammu as anti-national elements with the support of some Kashmir centric groups have divert their attention on Jammu”, he said and added that it was all due directions from the Union Government BSF deployed on the International Border (IB) was reportedly directed not to retaliate firing from Pakistani side.
“It is result of the unilateral ceasefire of BJP led Centre government that Pakistan has started shelling border areas of Jammu district because Rangers across the border were very much aware that hands of their counterparts in India have been tied by the political leadership”, he said and regretted that BJP led Union Government has crossed all limits of appeasement.
Pointing towards Thursday evening terror attack at Jammu Bus Stand, Mr Zorawar Singh Jamwal said that this incident is an eye-opener for those who were in the forefront in demanding unilaterlal ceasefire in the month of Ramzan. “By announcing unilateral ceasefire Union Government has shown its weakness and this step has encouraged terrorists and their masterminds in Pakistan”, he said and added that those who propagated the idea of announcing ceasefire in the holy month of Ramzan were responsible for the killings on the borders as well as in the hinterlands.
Meanwhile, volunteers of Team Jammu today visited border affected areas reportedly in R.S. Pura Belt and Glad & Banglad belts of district Samba and interacted with Border migrants. Anupam Sambyal led Samba Team while Narinder Sharma and Sulabh Mahajan lead volunteers in R.S. Pura. After interacting with Border firing victims, they demanding proper arrangements for the people besides giving befitting reply to Pakistan.

The result anti-national activities has constantly seen in this state. Although the Kashmiri youth is seen making anti national statements as well as indulged in anti national activities most of the times, all the privileges by the state as well as the centre government were being given to them.
The appeasement policy of centre government added woes .The announcement of ceasefire during Ramzan by centre and J&K state resulted into cross border firing and shelling in  borders of RS Pura Jammu ,Samba, Kathua which 100,000 people leave their villages to safer places .Even five civilians lost their lives and 40 injured. The death toll is increasing day by day. Where is plots for border migrants? There us no proper facility for border migrants to accommodate and save their lives. All governments from past to present just callous in their approach towards border dwellers .The present government totally lost their credibility by announcing ceasefire with Pakistan who is chameleon.
Youth Panthers totally condemned such double policy of J&K government who showed sympathy on one hand and on another hand took anti -Public decisions which resulted into attack at Jammu bus stand .In this  grenade attack  by suspected militants 3 policemen and one civilian were injured in  previous day. Jammu which remained peaceful but due to wrong policies of government  now it became soft target for anti-nationalists.
Young Panthers reiterated that Jammu youths are being discriminated in every sector .95%of employment is given to Kashmiri youths .Thus Frustration is on peak level .Now separate Jammu is only remedy to end all sorts of injustice and inequality prevailing  in this region. So that  Kashmir youth get their due rights and Jammu youth and people will  get their right without any hindrance. As Jammu youth is suffering from discrimination from 70 years  in ever sphere .Jammu youth now unwilling to bear this discrimination any more .Now they  have  stood opposite to this discrimination and will fight for their rights until separate Jammu will be founded.
He added  that the Young Panthers will be going to start a signature campaign  as well as membership drive on 27 May in support of the movement raised by the JKNPP to declare Jammu as a separate State so as to end the discrimination.
He further said that Young Panthers aimed to enroll at least one lac new members during the drive.

BJP, Congress, NC, PDP all betrayed the people of borders: Harsh

Jammu, May 24: Expressing immense shock over the loss of property and life caused by the persistent heavy mortar shelling and firing by Pakistan on the forward villages of IB in Kathua, Samba and Jammu districts, a strong contingent of Panther activists staged a massive protest demonstration spearheaded by Mr. Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and Mr.Yash Paul Kundal State President Young Panthers at Exhibition Ground Jammu today. While torching the effigy of the BJP, the angry protestors slammed the Central as well as the State government for their despicable apathy and gross failure to provide 5 Marla plots at safer zones to the border residents of Jammu region as promised by both the governments.
Mr. Harsh Dev Singh while addressing the media condemned Pakistan for pounding the forward villages all along the IB with heavy shelling and firing which had thrown the life of the people out of gear. He said that the border residents were living in horrifying atmosphere and the BJP partnered State government had paid no heed to their plight and miseries as of now. He pointed out that the children, women and aged were the worst sufferers of the Pak misadventure who were looking at the administration for an immediate relief and rehabilitation to safer zones. He regretted that severe lack of ambulance and allied health services besides defunct Primary Health Centers in the forward hamlets had led to deaths of the injured people which otherwise could have been prevented by timely intervention. He added that several human lives and livestock had perished during incessant firing and shelling besides heavy damage had been caused to the houses and crops of the local residents. Deeply anguished over the miserable plight of the border dwellers all along the IB in Jammu region, Mr. Singh expressed his resentment against both the Central and State governments for doling promises and assurances to the border residents time and again for their relief and rehabilitation but nothing tangible had been delivered so far. He reiterated his demanded for an immediate allotment of 5 Marla of land for each family at safer zones, special recruitment drives, reservation akin to ALC residents, adequate bunkers for emergency situation, ex-gratia to the family of the person killed in Pak firing and to those injured and employment for the next of kin of the deceased and adequate assessment based compensation for the loss of crops, cattle stock and damaged houses as relief measures for the affected people living in the forward hamlets.
Mr. Harsh Dev Singh wondered that how could BJP Ministers enjoy the loaves of power and keep their ally in good humour when their own people were afflicted with pain, chagrin and outrage. He cautioned the BJP to address the issues of the border residents seriously and stop making their contemptuous mockery by betraying them on false assurances. He asked the BJP to provide the promised relief to them without any delay otherwise the seething anger of the people would throw the Saffron party on the mat only to bite the dust. While lambasting Pakistan for sponsoring terror and creating war like situation in the State, he exhorted the GoI to take a stringent and deterrent action against the belligerent enemy rather than condemning the border skirmishes so that it could be restrained once for all from carrying out further misadventures.
Mr. Yash Paul Kundal raising voice in conformity with the genuine demands of the people living along the IB demanded provision of reservation besides other benefits and privileges for the border dwellers at par with the residents of ALC pertaining to government jobs etc. He regretted that the tall pronouncement of the BJP for conducting Special Recruitment Drive had proven to be mere rhetoric. He demanded that the local youth residing in border areas should be absorbed under Special Recruitment drive for Police, Armed and Paramilitary forces without any delay. The NPP leaders vowed that Panthers party shall stand with the border residents in all odds and circumstances and assured the people that it shall not relent unless all the demands of the people and the affected families in particular were addressed by both the Central and the State governments.
