Hyderabad, Feb 23 :  A 40-year-old CRPF jawan, part of a 14-member team, has been reported missing during a train journey from Delhi to Secunderabad here and a case registered, railway police sources said Saturday.

Saldesh Kumar, from Jammu and Kashmir, was found missing after the team arrived here by Telangana express train on February 20, according to the complaint lodged by an official of the paramilitary force.

Investigation was on to trace the jawan, they added.

The CRPF personnel were coming to their Group Centre at Hakimpet, Secunderabad, the sources said.                [Agencies]

New Delhi, Oct 15 (PTI) Fatima Nafees, the mother of missing Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Najeeb Ahmed, Monday said no one from the government came to her aid even after she challenged them to support her cause, on a day the CBI filed a closure report in the case of her son's disappearance.


She was speaking at a protest march organised from Mandi House under the aegis of the "United Against Hate" campaign, during which politicians and activists urged people to oust the Bharatiya Janata Pary (BJP) government in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Nafees said 2019 will bring something new and give us happiness. 

"Has the 56-inch chest shrunken to 26 inches? I had heard about 'sabka sath sabka vikas'. It is all jumlebaazi (gimmickry) and false promises. I had challenged the government to come and join me, but nobody came. Where is sabka sath?" she said, taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's slogan and the "56-inch chest" quote.

Nafees claimed that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) never probed her son's case and added that she would continue to look for Najeeb.

"There are only false promises. The CBI never opened the case. So, there is no question of filing a closure report. The CBI worked at the behest of the government. But I will not give up," she said.

Congress leader Sharmistha Mukherjee said it was saddening to see the JNU, a place where they were taught the culture of having a debate between different ideologies, was being billed as anti-national, while questioning if there was a "jungle raj" in the country.

"Is there a jungle raj in the country? Despite evidence against certain people, they are being shielded. Where is Najeeb? Are the country's investigating agencies so bad that they cannot trace him?," she said, addressing the protest.

Ashiyana Theba, the pregnant wife of Majid Theba, who went missing in July after he was picked up by the Bhuj 'A' division police officials in Gujarat, said she had been running from pillar to post seeking justice for her husband.

"I am pregnant and I can understand the pain Najeeb's mother is going through. My husband disappeared in front of my eyes. These politicians literally come begging for votes at the time of elections but where are they now? Bring my husband back to me," she said.

Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) president N Sai Balaji alleged that there were efforts to give a communal colour to Najeeb's case.

"This government wants to shut democracy inside the jails. But if you do not give us justice, we will uproot you in 2019," he said, while shouting "We are Najeeb" and "Justice for Najeeb".

Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Annie Raja said there was a need to save the tricolour from fascist forces.

"We have to snatch our tricolour from the killers of Akhlaq and Junaid, from the rapists of the minor girl in Kashmir. The tricolour is in the hands of fascist forces. This is not only a battle for Najeeb, but for everyone. Save the Constitution, save our country," she said.

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Javed Ali Khan said some fascist forces wanted to shut down the voices rising against them.

"But fascism is very cruel. Fascism sees an end. This fascist government will definitely see defeat. Our country's legal system has double roles. There are some decisions it makes, which go way ahead of the Modi government and show its true colours," he said, taking a dig at the Delhi High Court allowing the CBI to file a closure report in Najeeb's case.

Former JNU student leader Umar Khalid criticised the Delhi Police and CBI for not carrying out a thorough investigation in Najeeb's case. He said the voices demanding justice would not die.

Radhika Vemula, mother of Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula who committed suicide, said the CBI should be banned because it did not matter whether the central probe agency existed or not, while urging the voters not to vote the BJP back to power. 

"Dalits, adivasis and Muslims are being targeted. The BJP rule is worse than the British rule. But that day is not far when we will remove the BJP government. Do not vote for the BJP. Vote for peace-loving people," she said.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Nawal Kishore Yadav said there was an atmosphere of fear in the country and there was a need to stand against this fear.

"There is an effort being made to turn Hindustan into Sanghistan," he said, in an apparent reference to the BJP's ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Muzaffarnagar, Oct 15 (PTI) A 50-year-old farmer, who was missing since Saturday, was found dead in Hoshaganj village, police said Monday.

A case of murder was registered against one Abdul who was on the run following a complaint by the farmer's son, SHO OP Choudhary said.

According to his son, the farmer, Nawab, had gone to his fields Saturday but he did not return home later, the SHO said, adding his body was found Sunday evening.

Nashik, Sep 29: The body of a 10-year-old boy, who was missing for three days, was found floating in a well near here in Maharashtra, police said Saturday.

Police suspect it to be a case of suicide.

The boy, a Class 5 student, went to school on September 26, but did not return home. His mother had scolded him for not attending school regularly, they said.

His parents, who are into flower selling business, registered a missing person's complaint the next day, the police said.

The boy's body was found floating in a well in the Vadala-shivar area of the city Friday, they said.

It was spotted by local residents, who informed the police. The body was fished out and handed over to the boy's parents after post-mortem, the police said.

The police said they suspect the boy jumped into the well as he was miffed over the scolding he got from his mother.

An accidental death case has been registered, they added. (PTI)

Mumbai, Sep 8: The car of a 39-year-old bank executive, missing since Wednesday, was found abandoned in adjoining Navi Mumbai with blood stains on its rear seat, said police Saturday.

Siddharth Sanghavi, a resident of upscale Malabar Hill area in South Mumbai who works with a leading private bank in Kamala Mills compound, is untraceable since Wednesday evening, a police official said.

As he did not return home till late night, his family members approached the N M Joshi Marg Police Station in Central Mumbai and lodged a missing person complaint, he said.

Yesterday, Sanghavi's car, which he used to travel to his office, was found abandoned near a high rise building at Koparkhairane in Navi Mumbai, he said.

Blood stains and a knife were found on the rear seat of the car, he said.

The Mumbai police with the help of their Navi Mumbai counterparts are investigating the case, the official said.

CCTV footages of relevant sports in the two cities and Sanghavi's phone call records are being analysed for clues, he said, adding the police were exploring all angles.

"Our first priority is to locate the missing person," the official added. (PTI)

Muzaffarnagar, Aug 31: A 55-year-old woman was found dead in her under-construction house at Bagowali village here last evening, police said today.

Zahida was missing since Wednesday, they said.

The victim was found with her hands tied, SHO Harsharan Sharma said, adding that she might be strangulated to death.

A case was registered against unidentified persons and the body has been sent for post mortem, he added. (PTI)

New Delhi, Jul 27: The body of a 34-year-old Ola cab driver, who was reported missing since July 24, was found in Haiderpur canal, the police has said.

The deceased, identified as Salimuddin, a resident of Sohna in Gurgaon, was found with injuries in the head. His family members claimed that it was a case of hate crime as his hair had been cut, but the police have ruled out the allegation.

On July 23, some people had boarded a cab at the Kashmere Gate bus terminal. They told the driver they wanted a bigger car following which, which the driver got another cab booked for them, the police said.

Salimuddin, arrived there and the passengers asked him to take them to Murthal and paid the fare in advance. Around 3 am on July 24, Salimuddin's car was found rammed into a tree in Bawana, but he was missing.

The driver's family told police that he had not returned home from July 23 and a case was registered. His body was found in the canal on July 25, the police said, adding post-mortem was carried out yesterday and the body was handed over to the family.

According to the police, it is being probed whether the accused had robbed the car from Salimuddin, and then killed him. It is also suspected that after robbing the vehicle, they were driving it and ended up ramming it into a tree and then dumped it there.

Meanwhile, Ola released a statement on the incident.

"This is a very disturbing news. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased. We are in constant touch with local police to help them investigate the case. We hope that the perpetrators of the crime would be caught at the earliest," an Ola spokesperson said. (PTI)

Muzaffarnagar, Jun 9: A 14-year-old boy, who had been missing for a day, was found dead in a forest area in Muzaffarnagar district, a police official said today.
Deepak's body, found in Vahelna village under Kotwali police station area yesterday, had injury marks near his throat, Circle Officer Harish Bhadoria said.
The police suspect Deepak was killed by a wild animal.
The forest department had informed villagers about the spotting of a catamount in the area. A forest officer said the department has started a search for the catamount.
The body has been sent for a postmortem examination. (PTI)

New Delhi, May 28 : A man has been missing after he was hit by a car on the DND flyway, police said today.

A Harley Davidson and a Toyota Etios car were found on the spot, they said.So far, neither the motorcycle rider nor the driver of the car have been traced. Police said that it has been more than 24 hours, but no clue was found. No information about the injured has been received from any hospital, they said.

A search, with the help of local divers and a team of NDRF, was carried out on the Yamuna river, but no clue was found.

Anshuman Puri, a resident of Sarita Vihar is the registered owner of the bike, but his house has been found locked. His neighbours told police that he lived alone, police said.

One Bhappa Singh, a resident of Qutub Vihar, Goyala Dairy is the registered owner of the car. His house was also found locked. The neighbours stated that he is living in Canada and his daughter and son-in-law used to drive his car, they added.

Police have registered a case and are on the lookout for those involved in the accident.

Srinagar, May 18: Jammu and Kashmir police has launched a massive hunt to trace three weapons which were found missing from a police post in Dalgate area of the summer capital, Srinagar, official source said on Friday.
They said panic gripped a hotel when police guards posted there found three weapons missing late last night from the post.
Senior police officers were immediately informed and a massive hunt was launched to trace the weapon.
Giving details sources said that police guards were posted to guard a hotel, where some protected people are staying at Buchwara Dalgate on the bank of Dal Lake. However, the police guards had gone to offer prayers in a mosque, On their return, they found three weapons missing.
A case has been registered and investigation taken up, they said adding police guards are also being questioned. UNI

Anantnag, May 15 :  Jammu and Kashmir police has sought help to trace a teenage girl, missing for the past four days in this district, a police spokesman said here on Tuesday.
He said a woman lodged a complaint that her 18-year-old daughter was missing from Kheribal Mattan since May 12.
He said a missing was reported and investigation has been initiated to trace her. However, police has now sought help from the common people to trace her.
He said anyone having information about the missing girl may kindly inform nearest police station or Police Control Room (PCR).UNI
